also, in the unwatered creek soil, a small type of crane fly has emerged it is possible it could have flown in from the aerated holes but i am doubtful, its more likely that a larva was present in the soil when it was gathered

big development in dirt experiment #2 the sprout in the watered creek soil has grown enough that i can confidently identify it as a Sugar Hackberry sprout, as it matches the visual identification and the location i chose for the soil was very close to a Sugar Hackberry tree

dirt experiment day 8 a seed in the watered creek pot is beginning to germinate i suspect it won't live for long since the soil is pretty rocky, but i have no idea what plant it is yet

dirt experiment #2 day 2 still not really any changes, i can smell the little pieces of organic material decomposing (especially in the watered environments) but other than that nothing
