For those who don't know what it is. I strongly advise to research carefully as that comic is very extreme and not for the faint of heart. While I personally think its very try hard. I know many will probably be not prepared for something like what that comic does.

Fairs. I think if you're gonna play one CV game. I'd say SOTN is where its at. The other Metroidvania CV games are decent but suffer from some annoying crap to basically play the whole game.

.........And yeah. I'll be blunt a lot of Vania stories are quite derivative both classic, 3D and Igavania titles as you mentioned. And personally I think the story should've maybe concluded with SOTN, tbh with maybe comic/manga expansions (though I don't like the radio drama sequel that was done)

Yeah these are all valid points. SOTN gets credited to Iga but SoTN also had another writer which is why I think story wise its one of the better entries and games onwards have tried to recapture thay magic even Bloostained Ritual Of The Night......

As for depictions of women. Yeah I'll admit the games are a mixed bag regarding that. And the stories I'd say are serviceable. But I'll say SOTN's is actually good (but SOTN is really the main/only Vania game I return to a lot).

As an Alucard fan. This is partly why I'm not a huge fan of games post SOTN. On top of that I don't get it from a story perspective. Alucard (imo) never struck as the type of character to hide whom he was, let alone doing basically Japanese Face in the process.

SOTN is honestly the only CV game I like tbh. The older games suffer from that old school type of arcadey design and later Metroidvania's made getting the true ending way too complicated (minus maybe Order of Ecclesia)

That one I never played. The Vania franchise is a complicated kettle of fish for me. I love the vibes and music but some of those games (imo) can be a major pain in the arse to play be it due to old school arcadey designs or some complicated methods to get the true endings

My take is both sides are moronic. My country of Britain when it gets brought up acts like a sacred land and Argentina are in the wrong as the discovery of that Island predates the establishment of Argentina as a country. I'm not saying the people of either country are bad but its ridiculous now.
