I highly recommend this excellent book about Greenland, "Glimmer", by Polish reportage author Ilona Wiśniewska, who has spent many years in the far north. It’s a vivid account of the hardships of life in such a difficult climate. Now in English translation by Kate Webster. akoyapublishing.com

The best Oscar winner is the documentary „Mr Nobody Against Putin”, by Pavel Talankin, which exposes the brainwashing of Russian schoolchildren fed propaganda about the war in Ukraine. Watch the film, & if you know Russian, listen to & share this interview on YouTube (Подкаст Тогда и Сейчас #32).

Szczygiel takes pains to preserve tiny things for us: a snatch of dialogue overheard on the metro, or a conversation with a random stranger.
