If this is a traditional wire short the issue is probably in the main housing where the mic enters the body. Due to the battery we can not advise you on how to fix it as bridging those wires could be dangerous. The short its self is unlikely to be of any danger; just wanted to give a heads up.

Well, we appreciate we were once the mode of choice. In our past we used Voicemeeter (Banana) and a virtual cable. One line out for game comms, one line for Discord, and a hotkey to mute either. Probably not the most advanced setup for an audio company, but we were just doing small streams.

We can appreciate the budget concern. The 'cheapest' way to achieve what you're after is a decent clip-on wired lav mic and a USB-C to 3.5mm sound card for the interface. With some effort in cable management it should work well. Unless the goal was rec direct to PC; in which case you need wireless
