It is not ethical to kill the innocent, even if that saves lives.

The Jewish people cannot live in peace alongside the Palestinian people, as some propose, because the Jewish people have a territorial claim on Palestine itself, which inevitably brings them into conflict with the Palestinian people.

Not just illogical, but deeply insincere: you cannot have 'self-determination for all' because self-determination is a zero-sum game at global level.

The Zionist movement claims a specific territory, with borders already specified in 1919, without regard to the consent of its inhabitants. No Jewish homeland is possible on territory inhabited by non-Jews, without disadvantage to them.

You can just say "Jews aren't welcome". Honestly, it'll be quicker for everyone

Most people in Gaza would benefit in the long term, if western political parties abandoned their often obsessive philosemitism, and their taboo on opposition to the territorial demands of the Jewish people - which have caused so much suffering.

A political journalist (here @rmcunliffe.bsky.social ) should understand that political parties cannot welcome everyone, and that conflicts with Jewish minorities are inevitable when parties oppose Israel.

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
To oppose Zionism, is to oppose the national movement of the Jewish people, which inevitably harms the Jewish people. Opposition to Zionism is in that sense fundamentally anti-Jewish, yet that does not mean, that Zionism is intrinsically good.

This is a bot programmed to defend Israel, and we will probably see more of them soon.

For clarity: Jews do not have a collective 'right to safety', since no ethnic or national group has such a right. The rights of individuals are listed in treaties and constitutions, and if a "right" is not listed there, then it is just propaganda, without legal or moral weight.

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Antisemitic or not, it is reasonable and logical to oppose Jewish self-determination, since despite conferring no right to territory, it is a de facto obstacle to the dissolution of the State of Israel.
010
Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
The Jewish people has no legal right to a 'homeland free from persecution'. No nation or people has such a right, it is simply legal nonsense, like Israel's "right to exist". There is no 'Global Homeland Bureau' which distributes homelands to all applicants.

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
It is legitimate to ask members of the Jewish people to renounce their collective right to self-determination, which is indeed a de facto legal obstacle, to the dissolution of the State of Israel.

It is obvious that a political party which opposes Zionism, cannot ethically be compelled to accept Zionists as members, since that would defeat its intrinsic purpose. However, the English Green Party has not adopted such a principled position anyway.
010
Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
The English Green Party adopted a very controversial motion on 'Zionism as racism'. That does indeed fall short of a comprehensive analysis, and includes no policy proposals, but the people who denounce it do so, because they sympathise with the existence of the State of Israel. #Zionism

The German Green Party is not at all as 'left-wing' as people outside Germany think. These are German mainstream values - the kind that they teach in school - not a position of radical opposition.

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The nation-state does indeed provide a framework for the nations continued existence, but that function cannot justify the prior existence of the nation. Implicit circular reasoning here.
010
Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
There is a conflict between the Jewish people and the Palestinian people, who both claim the same territory. The Green Party has failed to analyse, and resorts to platitudes instead.

If condemnation of evil will ruin a party, then the evil should be condemned, and the party sacrificed. #Zionism

There is some debate in Britain about whether black or Asian people can be English. The debate is pointless since individuals cannot decide anyway, and an ethno-national identity is primarily based on ancestry, which no-one can alter. Citizenship is not the same as ethnicity!
010
Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It is correct that adopting an anti-Zionist policy will damage a political party, not only in the UK but in most western countries. Ethically, however, the party should be sacrificed in such circumstances.

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
If 'two-thirds of Jewish people' in Britain identify as Zionist, then 'two-thirds of Jewish people' have done something wrong. Zionism is wrong, it is wrong to be a Zionist, and you should not be a Zionist.

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Zionism is not a personal identity, nor is it 'variable'. All Zionists seek a Jewish state in Palestine, which is impossible without massive structural harm to its non-Jewish population. A good person would not be a Zionist, and in that sense they are all equally at fault.

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The German left seems incapable of addressing the constitutional issues here. The right claims a de facto veto on certain policies, and on the transfer of power after elections. The German constitution has no guidance on the issue, let alone guarantees.

No group of people has a right to 'feel safe' in any political organisation, since political organisations typically oppose one or more sections of the population, and are inherently unwelcoming.

The sacred text of the Jewish religion, the Torah, links the Jewish people with a specific territory, using language that is comparable to that of modern ethno-nationalism. In that sense it does have an inherent Zionist component.

It should be obvious, but if you reject antisemitism, then you reject not only the antisemitism of Adolf Hitler, but each and every negative judgement on the Jewish people, on its national aspirations, on its national movement (Zionism), and on its nation-state (Israel).

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Antisemitism includes, by definition, criticism of the Jewish state Israel, and its repression is therefore a legitimate subject of political debate.

The German left continues to paint itself into a corner, by its refusal to directly confront right-wing ideology and ethics.

Is the right the 'new left', because it opposes the woke liberal elite? Or is the right just the old pre-woke, pre-liberal elite, which got displaced?

Germany is a nation-state, and the German people is an ethno- national group, and the German nation is already an "ethno-cultural community", and it always was. The AfD is merely taking German nationalism seriously. Which German academics have ever criticised the German people anyway?
000
Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
People who say that "criticism of Israel is not antisemitic" usually mean that there are two categories of criticism - one 'moderate' and acceptable, and the other nasty, 'extremist', and 'antisemitic' - and that they decide which category your views belong to.

European politicians need to accept that a large section of the population will not accept a multi-ethnic society - never, never, never. They will never compromise, and will not change their minds over time. The only thing that they will accept, is the society that they want. #AfD

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
The west European states must accept that a large section of the population wants to live in a mono-ethnic society. The answer to your question logically follows: territorial segregation between mono-ethnic and multi-ethnic areas.

It is pointless to argue that the successful right-wing parties do not represent the interests of their (generally lower-income) voters. Even it that were true, that would not interest the right-wing voters, who are motivated by cultural and social concerns.

Democracy is not left-wing, and not intended to produce left-wing governments, except in the extremely rare cases that a democratic state is inhabited by leftists. No such state currently exists.

Paul Treanor @antireactionary.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
Germans are an ethno-national group, and Germany is their nation-state. All ethnic nations, and all ethnic nation-states, are 'völkisch' by definition. Until the German left is prepared to confront the German people, it will remain powerless against ethno-nationalist movements.

There is clear evidence for a monolithic East Germany, populated by: 1) AfD-ers and 2) those who tolerate the AfD-ers. For what it's worth, there are similar geographic-political monoliths in the Netherlands. Some historians think these patterns are centuries old.

Militia formation is a classic symptom of a polarising society, where sections of the population believe that the state has ceased to protect them from their enemies.

From my observations/conversations in the east it really is irrelevant to explain to AFD voters what they might lose. They‘re fine with losing it - and more - if it finally gives them that small thrill of empowerment, and yes, vindication, against precisely those who tell them this.

Opening with a lie. Academia is deeply averse to controversial questions - try 'pursuing the question' of Israel's right to exist.

There are no 'basic academic standards and values', because they are contested - just as with other standards and values, in a polarised society.
