To be clear, they are kid’s books, but were a good read (and listen, they came with a tape of I’m not mistaken) when you were six!

In later found out that he co-wrote several Ladybird Science Fiction books with his son, including The Energy Pirate, which I loved as a child.

Couldn’t agree more. As understood it, Carpenter wanted Halloween to be an anthology, not just the same film over and over. It’s being screen at the Prince Charles Cinema this October too, going to try and get to see it finally in the big screen, as nature intended ;)

I think that Kirk, Spock and Scotty’s vitamins are similarly labelled. Standard Startfleet practice.

Sounds the kind of money you need if you’re speccing a Mac Mini with some local storage you can swing a cat in…

That’s not Alan Sugar. That’s Gareth Hunt who for a very brief period of time sold his own version of an Amstrad 464 which had more keys (including some that were pre-pressed to save you the trouble) and an amazing widescreen monitor so you could see your ProText document in 80 columns!

Don’t tell me. Base configuration is 8gb of RAM and 256GB SSD. If you want USB ports, that’s £200 extra. LAN port is £100 extra.

I really wanted to do Latin, because we had a Latin pocket dictionary at home (god knows why) and I wanted to use it. Yep, I was one of the cool kids. Oddly, this was not why I did German.

We adopted a black cat 13 years ago. We became a tight little crew; was devastated when we had no choice but to say goodbye. Although I love our currrent cat to bits (also adopted) and would not change a thing, I still miss my black cat friend every day. I hope some black cats find a home this week.

Technically they are correct. Breakfast service is still taking place. Chronologically. Changing this position because they have run out of food might create an existential crisis.

I was almost hoping that the A1200 prototype was in the A500 case. Don’t know why - I don’t dislike the A1200 case, but it would have given a real skunkworks vibe. Like when Rover were refining the MGF chassis and chose to put a Metro Van body on it as a disguise.

I was there. The atmosphere was so good! Epic journey home too, ending up somewhere in South West London on the last Piccadilly Line train towards Heathrow. That a bus turned up that was part of a route we regularly used (and had no idea went that way) turned up just added to the surrealism.

I fully expect this to be shown on this day in four years time at the @princecharlescinema.com for its 50th anniversary - and that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop asking them to show Predator 2!

Nah, they don’t need time or resources! How about… printing out the chat on your live streams. Like a ticker tape in the movies. Totally redundant… but could it keep up?

Right in the danger zone then. Printer not too expensive, paper available…. Be strong Jim, resist the temptation. Or don’t and have a new toy for a video :)

Exactly what was said when I was at The Cave. Had it explained how it worked (not how I had thought!) and it was unhinged on so many levels…. but brilliant all the same.

Same, I had an Seikosha one for my Spectrum for a little while before it detonated (the Spectrum that is). Not looked into it, but the paper might be a problem for the ZX Printer. They don’t seem massively expensive either, which was a surprise. Whether they still work however…

Seriously? Not the printer, that there are -ve comments? Had the pleasure of seeing a ZX Printer again last weekend. Real off the wall thinking. Totally impractical too. I loved it.

I am sure I had some as a kid. Plastic ones. I also had a pencil-topper of a Smash robot sitting cross-legged. Maybe I am confusing the two but I’m with you on this one.

Always confuse Jessica Alba with Jessica Biel. One or the other just seemed to be in every other film I was watching in the early 2000s.

When you are tired of Cannock… you are tired of Rugley too. The only thing left is the jewel in the crown; the Monaco of Staffordshire (well it has a Shipley’s), the town with not 1 but 2 exits on the M6; the beauty that is Stafford. Tire of that and all that is left is the big city… Wolverhampton!

Honestly think that it needs to stop with the “buy a banger and turn it into a submarine” schtick. The world’s moved on; the original show worked because it was of its time - same with the revised show in 2001. It’s not Moneyball. Stop trying to recreate Clarkson, May and Hammond in the aggregate!

We had our first rain in 3 months today (you can’t really count the 30 mins of light shower three weeks ago) and it was glorious. I love the heat and the sun but we really need some rain. I think a number of my bushes are gonners from it being dry for so long and that was with some watering too.

You think? Currently AI can’t produce pictures of people without getting the, perspective, proportions, eyes, limbs and movement wrong, despite copying millions examples harvested from movies. I don’t think we can afford the outlay for a machine to be able to do something humans can do naturally.

Because me and my childhood mates were puerile, naturally Captain Brown exploded because he was trying to hold in a fart. This is still the explanation we espouse when we get together and Captain Scarlett is discussed, because me and my childhood mates are still puerile.

An anniversary; Windows NT 4.0 is 30 years old today. A big part of my early career was spent working on HP-UX/Solaris machines, but NT turned Windows from a buggy, crashy mess into something that was both stable and supported the productivity software I needed. My beloved OS/2 could not compete.

Not an actual story however. If you can see the article through all of the ads, it’s 10% The Sun speculating and 90% about the new series of The Grand Tour. Clickbait at its finest.
