The US cannot return to a functioning democratic polity. The muppets they send as ambassadors to Europe will affect domestic politics. Europe has to change its treaty (including the way it elects Commission's president) to strengthen and immunise itself. But it won't

🚨Very interesting take last night about the Musk vs Trump skirmish. Musk was the enforcer. Trump has lost his main grip over Republican politicians. They are now able to fight his laws without the fear of being priced out come the next election... A beautiful day to be progressive.

The “new sanctions” to Russia at this stage are just vague and therefore ineffective. We should have given frozen Russian assets to Ukraine long ago. Threatening to give them now for not coming to the negotiation table could be effective.

At the end of the day, the EU block needed Junker type of figures, but usually chooses the various von der Leyens of this world. Just compare Schinas, Michel, Baroso, van Rompoy that have led us over the years with leaders from around the world. Our position is well deserved.

Kaja Kallas is wrong. There is zero evidence that article 5 will be upheld, just the opposite. Therefore Europe needs to build its own, independent defence. Sadly she recently made a statement against that.
