"cities should act now to raise as much money as possible for adaptation before the municipal bond market starts pricing in physical climate risk. It's only going to get more expensive later" yeesh.

Sometimes David Brooks really can nail it: "An administration of narcissists will be a snake pit, in which strife and self-destructive scandal will snuff out effective action. Running things is hard, and changing things is harder, and it’s rarely done well by solipsistic outsiders."

here's one to watch: Cambridge MA is contemplating six-story, by-right zoning for the entire city -- "advocates say [it] would be among the broadest zoning reform efforts tried in an American city" www.bostonglobe.com/2024/11/21/b...

‘We love these buildings’: Should developers get to build six stories anywhere in Cambridge? - The Boston Globe

Housing advocates say simpler zoning would pave the way for more homes and generate more affordable housing. But others say unregulated development would only make things worse.

Had an idea this morning for a scenario generator to develop some content for a client. Four hours later the tool is so robust probably just going to deliver it to them with some pre-generated templates. Pre-Claude this would have been days and weeks of development and never would have got done.
