i'm trying to make a new tinning solution for PCBs, my old solution has stopped working after years, i have dubious tin chloride, and a silver cleaner with thiourea, and pure tin metal. can i make this more acidic to prevent tin hydrolysis using sodium bisulfate? will it still plate on copper?

years later this still annoys me about this scope, the trigger point on the screen is offset by about 500ps, and it becomes extremely noticeable at higher frequencies. keysight never bothered to fix this, i wonder if the 1200x series also have this annoying problem

with my night vision struggling a bit more these days, i went to find some old motion sensing night lights that were in the house a few years ago that died of unknown causes. i found them and took them apart

am i not interpreting the SOA correctly? it looks like when the transistor is hotter, it can handle more power than when it's at ambient temperature? is that right? it doesn't sound right, what am i missing? hmmm

the FBSOA curves for the IXTP80N075L2 MOSFET, the curve @Tc=25°C shows a lower Id for the same Vds compared to the curve @Tc=75°C when operating at DC, so it looks like continuous power dissipation is higher when the transistor is hotter. the shorter pulses do have lower power under FBSOA when Tc=75°C. I may just not be interpreting this correctly, or there might be a mechanism i'm not aware of that would make higher DC power dissipation when hotter a thing.

So, I found an old power strip my dad had in storage. It had MOVs from the 80s in it. I wanted to replace them, so I got new ones from farnell. I got these: B72220Q0151K101. the datasheet shows this curve for ileak. i'm getting 108µA at 120V. have i gotten duds? i've tested 3, am i testing it wrong?

B72220Q0151K101 connected to mains 120VAC in series with a multimeter in microamps mode, another multimeter is measuring the voltage across the varistor/multimeter series. 108.3µA and 120.4V

so i'm working on an Fm transmitter and receiver for this semester's project. i've made two antennas and tuned them with the help of the nanoVNA, which show them to be quite usable, individually, but when i connect both antennas to the VNA, to see S11 and S21 frequency shifts, and i have no idea why

S11 of of one of the antennas showing a good SWR of 1.072 at 95.28MHz. both antennas are similar enough.

S11 and S21 on the nanoVNA with both antennas connected displaying a down shift in resonant frequency. maybe this isn't how i'm supposed to use the nanoVNA?

this is not what is expected from a TL082 op amp, right? the slew rate is ~0.5V/us. set up with a gain of 10 i should expect to see about 17dB at around 300KHz with a TL082, right?. this isn't even close, yay only having access to counterfeit everything in this hellhole!
