I was devastated to learn today that my local FYE is going out of business. I love that store. That said, I did get some incredible deals on a stack of DVDs and Blu-Rays, which was nice!

Definitely a spooky aesthetic. Not a full horror one, but a Halloween-y theme with colorful ghosts and ghouls. Something along the lines of Luigi’s Mansion or MediEvil.

Confession. Ever since I was a kid, the “The End” screen from Super Mario World has been slightly… unsettling to me. I think it’s just all the characters being slightly off-model staring blankly at the camera in a black void, but even today as an adult, it just feels off.

I just started Need for Speed 2015, and I’m surprised how much I’m loving it. The tutorial system stinks, but the gameplay is really fun and I love the corny FMV cutscenes. It’s such a shame this game is online only and will inevitably be lost one day.

I feel like “action-adventure” is kind of a nebulous catch-all for any game that isn’t an RPG at this point. I’m going to say either Luigi’s Mansion or Batman: Arkham City depending on your definition of “Action-Adventure.”

I REALLY like my PS5. I feel it’s a much bigger step up from the PS4 than I was expecting. That said, people were really not joking about the lack of games. I thought it was exaggerated like the PS3 “not having games,” but it really is pretty dire.

I don’t know if it counts since it’s one of the online modes, so I don’t know if it’s considered a “minigame,” but Escalation mode in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron was so, so good and I miss it a lot.

Shining Force is so good. It’s such a shame it’s been so forgotten, as I feel like with the resurgence of tactical RPGs in the last decade, a new game could do well. I feel like I should also mention my favorite Sonic game, which is Sonic Adventure.

It feels weird saying this after I’ve wanted to play it so desperately for so long, but I just finished Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. It is just such a good game. While I don’t think it’s the best Ace Attorney game I’ve played, it is definitely near the top.

I have a few. First that comes to mind is Ultimate Fishing Simulator. Pop on a podcast or something and shut my brain down. Also the Harvest Moon series. Especially Harvest Moon 64. Not my favorite, but the short days make it easy to get in a cycle for hours.
