He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power. He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

Tantrix is a 1988 game that's recently returned to my tabletop rotation. Because of my irrational love of the miniature, I had to have the until recently hard-to-find pocket edition. It is now available in the US, but only from Barnes and Noble.
On the left, three hexagonal pieces from the regular Tantrix game, and on the right, six pieces from Tantrix Pocket. The pieces for the pocket version are about half as wide as the regular.

Screengrab from Google maps. If we have a civilization in a couple of centuries, this will be a bizarre factoid passed among my spiritual descendant and their friends.

Doing the hourly rotation at Griffith Observatory, and I saw this parked out front. Tooele is a smallish town west of Salt Lake City.

Latest acquisition, Bicycle's Index-only deck. The zennest art deck in my collection.
Four playing cards arranged in a square. One face down, showing the Bicycle rider back design in red. The others are Ace of Spades, Queen of Diamonds, and Five of Clubs. The cards only have corner indices, with no other art.

It's not a collection, art decks just follow me home. Latest acquisitions: Bicycle's blue "Kaleidescope" deck, and the USPCC's "Russian Folk Art" deck by Natalia Silva.
Four cards, one showing the back, ace of spades, six of diamonds, and king of clubs, in a mostly blue color scheme, with images suggesting a view in a kaleidoscope.Four cards. One face down to show the back, ace of spades, Jack of clubs, and eight of diamonds, with art in red and black with motifs from Russian folk art.

Local noon at Los Angeles is currently happening before civil noon. Which is before Griffith Observatory opens on weekdays. Not often I get to just watch local noon. So glad we're done with Darkness Squandering Time.
