Man I should finish my Black Vipers bladeguard veterans, even though I can’t run them as admech allies like I originally planned to in 9e (I miss imperial soup lists 😞)

A bladeguard veteran from Indomitus converted with the shoulder trims carved into cog-tooth, an aggressor helmet, and a cog in place of its iron halo.

The same conversion on a different sculpt, although the cog as broken off. More clearly shown in this image is the modifications to the power sword made to look like something from the Adeptus Mechanicus range

11 years to finish a mini isn’t that long, right? 😅 Around the start of the year I started using my broadside from when I was a new hobbyist in ‘14 in games again, so I decided to give it a makeover. #WarhammerCommunity #PaintingWarhammer #Warhammer40k #TauEmpire

Before: by my second year of painting, I had learned that you need to thin your paints and not just apply them straight from the pot. Had yet to figure out that more than one coat would be needed, and eventually the mini was abandoned and spent several years in a box somewhere.

Front view of the same broadside battlesuit. Colours are now more solid and highlights are more steady thanks to having years to develop brush control and other skills my teenaged self didn’t have.

Side view of the broadside battlesuit. No stripping or repriming went into this project; all of the original paintjob is preserved under new layers of paint.

Left, my converted broadside completed in late 2019/early 2020. No longer will it mog on its older sibling, and both can proudly serve the Greater Good side by side for many more years.

Decided to snag a pic of my character aura farming after nailing a pinnacle landing over a comms tower and by pure luck I managed to capture an NPC flyover (a solar sailer being the lead ship is the cherry on top imo) We’re beyond a redemption arc, game’s peak #NMS

Been a while, got some scale model razor wire for my birthday so decided to test out some colour schemes (just basecoats for now). Still not super sure which one I’ll go for, maybe the good folk of bluesky could help me choose? #WarhammerCommunity #PaintingWarhammer #WIPWednesday

The final result will be a caramel leather greatcoat (XV-88) with sage green breeches (Death World Forest), and warm, winy brown leather for the webbing, gloves, boots, and assault pack (Gal Vorbak Red). The gas mask is picked out in Pallid Wych Flesh, the neck gaiter in The Fang, and lastly the bedroll and puttees in Zandri Dust. All paints listed are from the Citadel acrylic paint range.

The final result will be a cotton greatcoat (The Fang on the outside, Russ Grey on the “inside”) with Steel Legion Drab breeches, and dark brown leather for the webbing, gloves, boots, neck gaiter, and assault pack (Dryad Bark). The gas mask is picked out in XV-88, and once again the bedroll and puttees in Zandri Dust. All paints listed are from the Citadel acrylic paint range.

Posting some experiments I did recently, recipes can be found in the alt text. First attempt is probably the most aggressively orange orange I’ve ever painted, definitely keeping note of it for energy weapons in the future. #PaintingWarhammer #WarhammerCommunity

Started with a base coat of Citadel Colour’s Jokaero Orange followed by an undiluted coat of Citadel Colour’s Magmadroth Flame contrast paint.

A base coat of Citadel Colour’s Averland Sunset, followed by a 1:3 Citadel Colour’s Magmadroth Flame to Citadel Colour’s Contrast Medium, applied liberally to the wing tips while a similar application of Citadel Colour’s Iyanden Yellow was done to the base of the wings, proceeded with wet blending the two colours until a smooth blend is achieved in the middle.
