Discord might not have been the cause of the problem, but they had the solution and chose not to use it. No other service has this standard. You'd hold it against Sony if it were a PS5 exclusive game, or a store if they sold a faulty part.

Discord would be responsible for that too actually, which is why you can report spam. They're not the cause of the problem, but they have control over the solution. That's where the responsibility comes from.

Double Counter exists ONLY for Discord. It is ONLY involved with Discord and no other service. And yeah, asking does a lot. They could also ask for proof, that's allowed too. At the very least that would be SOME regulation that would make things safer. More would be better.

They are absolutely responsible. If a restaurant got a shipment of meat and found out it was tainted they would legally have to throw it out. Selling tainted meat or unsafe auto parts is strictly illegal and extremely immoral.

If those brakes were faulty, Auto Zone knew they were faulty (or didn't check) and could get someone killed, but sold them to a million people anyways and did nothing to stop it, then yeah.

That is how the world works though! Everything is regulated for safety. Your food is regulated by the FDA. Various government agencies regulate auto parts. If you try to sell parts that you know they're not okay with you'd be held responsible and fined or go to jail.
