Anne B. @annewrites.bsky.social · 01/05/2025

Realised I had to learn how to draw before I should try to animate, so that's what I'm currently doing. Yesterday's practice sketch: adding context. I thought of a follow-up when I woke up this morning that I will sketch today. My learning is totally disorganised but I don't care To be continued...

Sketch. A man appears to scream. A woman approaches and asks "Are you okay?".

Introduce yourself with four movies (today, might be others tomorrow):

Update: shooting postponed because of actress's family emergency so will probably not happen till next Spring. For that reason, I am now teaching myself animation so I can control absolutely everything (because I really really can't act).

Looking for recommendations: Good off-Broadway theatres, small live music venues, and potentially hotels in New York (going Feb. 2025). Thank you!

A suivre...

In turn, they give their opinions.
Conspiracist 1 “Typical pro-mouse propaganda, paid for by the powerful rodent lobby”
Conspiracist 2 “The creature has obviously escaped from a lab, yet the “author” never mentions this”
Conspiracist 3 “gruffalo is an anagram of ‘A FROG FLU’. Coincidence? I think not.
Conspiracist 4 ‘These elite writers will not be happy until we are all living in the woods and eating nuts”

The very minute l decided last night to finally give up on the screenwriting I got a message from one of my friends/reader (a director) who read Ashes. He called it gripping and compelling and proposed we schedule a zoom to discuss it. So I guess one last push. Life's funny huh.

Après hiatus festif (et travailleur, bronchitique et partiellique), mes deux pages du vendredi : After a festive break (with work, bronchitis and exams) here's my two-page story for this Friday: Invisible (n°6)

INT. SALLE DE BAIN JOUR

Un miroir recouvert de buée.

Une main qui l'essuie.

Le visage de AGNES, la quarantaine, apparaît.

INT. SALON JOUR

FIN

INT. BATHROOM DAY

A mirror covered in steam.

A HAND wipes it off.

The face of AGNES (40s) appears.

INT. LIVING ROOM DAY

At the window, Agnes, her hands wrapped around a steaming cup of coffee, watches the street below as it becomes animated with the morning bustle.

INT. HALLWAY DAY

Agnes puts on her coat, gloves, scarf. She goes out and locks the door behind her. The flat is left empty and quiet.

INT. BUILDING ENTRANCE DAY

The sound of the lift arriving. It comes to a stop. The doors open. Agnes comes out, crosses the hall, exits the building.

EXT. BUILDING/STREET DAY

The apartment building's door shuts on its own.

PASSERS-BY pass by.

Along the street: shops Some open, some closed a café. A group of COMMUTERS waiting at a bus stop.

Further down cars honk at a green light.

An OLD MAN crosses the road with a small DOG.

SCHOOL KIDS mess about.

A MAN in a hurry is on the phone, getting angry. He bumps into something but what, he doesn't realise there is nothing, no one, he

Some sit at computers. Others brandish files and rush around the labyrithine space.

A computer screen where meaningless lines of letters appear to the noise of the keyboard typing.

A keyboard that no one touches. A pause.

The office chair moves aside.

The sheets of a notepad turn over. The chair moves back to the computer. The keyboards types again.

On the screen, the reflection of Agnes's face.

INT. GYM DAY

PEOPLE training lifting weights, cycling, rowing.

A treadmill runs on its own. The regular sound of invisible feet as they hit it.

EXT. BUILDING EVENING

The door of the building opens.

INT. BUILDING EVENING

Agnès crosses the foyer to the lift.

INT. LIVING ROOM EVENING

On the coffee table, a nearly empty bottle of wine.

On the sofa, Agnes brings a glass to her lips, staring vacantly.

THE END
