It’s not just a golf course either. It’s a large park where people picnic and bike, walk, fish, with a public golf course and a putt-putt golf course in the center. Trump has his own course in Virgina but wants to take this one from the locals and destroy a beloved natural area.

I’ve read that Iñárritu wanted to make this film for 10 years. 9 or so years ago it might have hit differently. Now it’s landing too late, when we’re mostly discouraged and weary because we feel we’ve already crossed a line we can’t come back from. A warning rather than a reproach.

I think because the people who saw it and are discussing it are purposely not revealing the film’s turns so as not to spoil them for others. But by not discussing the turns, anyone who hasn’t seen the film can’t fully understand the discussion. And those who are discussing it can’t fully discuss it.

Trump is in charge of DC’s National Guard. They don’t collect the deposited ballots and they must not stand at ballot boxes. The ballot boxes are secure. DC’s election is for mayor. Residents vote ~90% Democratic so the race is not at all close. The Guard presence is a show of force to upset people.
