A lovely sunrise featuring Haulbowline Lighthouse. I even managed to capture a green rim effect! If you look closely at the edges of the sun in some photos, you’ll see a green tint along the top and a red fringe along the bottom. Nature putting on a little bit of magic to kick off October.

A virtual stroll around the Flagstaff Viewpoint this evening, taking in some stunning views over Carlingford Lough. 🎹 Silent, O Moyle The song Silent, O Moyle — also known as The Song of Fionnuala — was first published in 1808 in the second volume of Thomas Moore’s Irish Melodies.

📍Kilclief, Co. Down Moonrise over Angus Rock Lighthouse this evening from Kilclief, Co. Down. The moon was very faint at first as the sun hadn’t set so difficult lighting. But it soon appeared in all its glory. The cormorants on top of the lighthouse were paying homage.

Sorting through photos for calendar choices and an annual tidy-up (I always think it will be monthly but it never quite works out like that!!). It takes twice as long as it should, but I love how much a single photo can bring back a memory. A few of my favourites from January ❤️

SUNRISE, MOONSET, SUNSET, MOONRISE 🌅🌕 Not too many days in Ireland when you can capture sunrise, moonset, sunset, and moonrise but this day 2024 was one of them. Sunrise over Howth Lighthouse, moon set from the same spot, sunset from Gyles Quay, and moonrise over Haulbowline Lighthouse Amazing.

Moonrise over Rockabill Island from this day 2024. Was planning to get the moon on the horizon but the clouds didn’t play ball … a lot of scrambling over a rocky beach provided this shot as the moon eventually appeared!

What an "On This Day" memory! 🌕 This to date is one of my favourite moonrises. Viewed from Greenore Shore back on September 17th, 2024, it features one of my favourite landmarks - Haulbowline Lighthouse on Carlingford Lough. 🎹 Playing Debussy’s Clair de Lune on piano

Nature’s light show over Carlingford Lough - this day last year! ⚡️ What started as a hunt for a quiet moonrise along Greenore/Ballagan Shore turned into an amazing lightning show over Haulbowline Lighthouse. Amazing to witness, and I feel so lucky to have captured it! A night I won’t forget.

Love this memory from #thisdaylastyear! Set out hoping to capture moonrise behind Haulbowline Lighthouse on Carlingford Lough, but was greeted with this incredible sky. These clouds rolled in above the lighthouse and turned out to be just a teaser before an amazing lightning show (see next post)

Some highlights from August 2026. I was lucky enough to explore several counties of our beautiful isle and tick off a few more lighthouses. Haven’t had time to go through most of my photos but will do over the next while. What counties can you spot?

The plan was to capture the moon breaking the horizon, but a low cloud layer had other ideas! Still, watching this incredible pink moon clear the haze right over Haulbowline Lighthouse was worth the wait at Greenore Shore.
