Ever had really great discussions during a hackathon and gone home thinking others could also benefit from the ideas bounced around? Inspired by @simine.com's garage analogy, we thought about how to coordinate scientific self-correction. See our ‘hackathon proceedings’ osf.io/preprints/me... 1/

New article by @cathleenogrady.bsky.social showing that Harvard Prof Gino likely not only made up data but also plagiarized. One case is thesis supervised by @annaveer.bsky.social. Brief summary in this thread: #AcademicSky #PsychSciSky #metasci 🧪

Outputs created at #OSR24NL #openscience retreat can be found in a collection at ResearchEquals (R=), a modular scholarly publishing platform for diverse/intermediate outputs. The first item in the collection is about "persona non grata" see www.researchequals.com/collections/...

Instead of only proposing how to do research—in this case how to select claims that need #replication— in a paper, we invite alternatives, improvements, criticisms in commentaries, creating open dialogue instead of black box reviews open.lnu.se/index.php/me... #metascience #OpenReview

Interested in replication research? Consider writing a commentary for the next special issue in Meta-Psychology which will publish critiques of the article "Replication value as a function of citation impact and sample size": open.lnu.se/index.php/me...

Academia wouldn't be as good a place without you @eikofried.bsky.social, having friends like you is my antidote to cynicism creep. All go read Eiko's blog on what keeps him going despite problems in science. I am biased and privileged, but #openscience about it. eiko-fried.com/antidotes-to...

Pressures in academia driving apart goal of science and goal of individual, making it important to recommit to principles in order to make circles overlap and enhance intrinsic motivation to work in the benefit of science and society.

@annaveer.bsky.social @lakens.bsky.social Thed van Leeuwen and I applied a method for quantifying "replication value" on a large sample of fMRI articles in social neuroscience, to see if the method is practically feasible. Open access version of our attempt is now online: doi.org/10.1016/j.co...

Forthcoming in Cortex Several methods for identifying high-value replication targets have been proposed, but we need to show that these can be implemented in practice. In paper with @lakens.bsky.social and @annaveer.bsky.social we assess the feasibility of one method (RVcn): osf.io/preprints/me...
