Hi #portfolioday ! I'm Anna Stenger, an author/illustrator looking for work in children's books. Having worked as a graphic designer, I love composing images based on shape and contrast, then sprinkling in details to bring the story to life. www.annastenger.com annastengerillustration@gmail.com

I sent out my March newsletter this week so now I’m 3/3 in 2025 and I’m not sure I’ve ever felt this successful 😂

I love the idea of this piece but I think it’s time to put this color palette to rest… The saturation distracts me. Thoughts? #kidlitart #picturebook #wip

The clipping of this image has got a great response from, I assume, fellow parent-illustrators, so I’m sharing the entire image here for the full effect :) #kidlit #kidlitart #parenting #toddlerlife

I wrote a small blurb on my Substack about James Gurney’s Windmill Principle and how I live and die by this concept 🤪 only half joking…

With the extreme volume of books that I oversee I'm sometimes able to triangulate subtle shifts in the design zeitgeist. This will be obtuse, so do with it what you will, but my gut is telling me: gradients are out. Perhaps because within this era of gray areas, concrete positions are required.

I’ve been attempting to keep up with all the October art challenges this year and here was my first quick piece, combining Inktober (backpack) with SCBWI’s Artober (whispers). #scbwiartober2024 #inktober2024 #whispers #backpack Yes I made up my own rules 🤓
