£70 per person, per year. That's all. Net cost to the economy of reaching net-zero by 2050 now estimated at £116bn over 25 years = less than £70 per person per year. Less with health benefits. www.carbonbrief.org/obr-net-zero... TY@drsimevans.carbonbrief.org making big numbers real.

OBR: Net-zero is much cheaper than thought for UK – and unchecked global warming far more costly - Carbon Brief
Reaching net-zero will be much cheaper for the UK government than previously expected – and the economic damages of climate change far more severe.

The climate movement keeps saying 'stop talking about system change' and inaccessible jargon. Well, if this makes you sad then see 'system' and 'feedback loops' and 'levers' jargon put to excellent use in our new report. Summary in @carbonbrief.org too www.carbonbrief.org/guest-post-h...

Guest post: How ‘feedback loops’ and ‘non-linear thinking’ can inform climate policy - Carbon Brief
The global shift towards a clean-energy system is much more than just a technological switch – it is a profound transformation of markets, industries and societal behaviours.

⚡🔌 Battery electric trucks are reaching lifetime cost parity with diesel — and starting to overtake them. Globally aligned emissions standards or mandates could accelerate this tipping point in lagging markets. New analysis from our @eeist-project.bsky.social team: eeist.co.uk/eeist-report... 🧵
We were surprised by our results - the tipping point is much closer than we expected. In some regions and vehicle categories, such as heavy- and medium-duty trucks in China, and vans in India and China, electric vehicles are already cheaper over their lifetimes than their diesel counterparts. In other regions, cost parity is expected before 2033. Dr Amir Akther, Global Systems Institute at the University of Exeter
