STÄDTISCHES VOLKSBAD #photography #architecture #Vienna #Wien #Meidling

The square photo shows the façade of the "Volksbad," a public bathhouse, declared a historic monument but today used as a residential building. The picture centers on three high box windows next to each other and each with a low ornate cast-iron guard. Underneath the windows is the inscription "Städtisches Volksbad" (municipal public bathhouse) and below that "built by the municipality of Vienna in 1923" in German.

Square photo of a covered streetcar stop and a double track with a streetcar standing on the right-hand track. Behind it on the right is a box-shaped residential building. A sign at the picture's top reads "Direction VIENNA" ('Richtung WIEN") with an arrow pointing to the right. The picture is marked by the contrast between the curved lines of the platform and its roofing, and the straight lines of the building.

A green shack is standing behind a construction fence. In front of the fence, two stone blocks lie diagonally on top of each other. Lush, bright red poppies are growing next to and behind these blocks, their color contrasting vividly with the green of the shack. Grasses sprout through the cylindrical holes in the stone blocks. A telling example of how nature is reclaiming urban space.

The square picture shows a staircase bordering a concrete wall on the left and running alongside a building made of exposed concrete on the right.
