This news made my day! 🎉 Junior pay rates were a key reason I became politically active in the 90s and joined the Australian Democrats - the only party with a policy to abolish junior rates then. It should not have taken this long. Next step: Abolish junior rates for under 18s.

After the May federal election, Australia’s federal parliament has almost reached gender parity. By my calculations the House of Representatives in the 48th Parliament will be 46% women and the Senate 56.6% women. The Parliament as a whole will be 49.6% women. /1
