i wrote this a few years ago. it rings as true today as it did then. i still choose to let love win. 🏳️‍🌈❤️🏳️‍⚧️

Text of what it means to be trans, according to me:

Do you want to know what it mean to be trans?
It means you have been to the very deepest, darkest bottom of your being... yet you still found enough love for yourself to turn back against the years of a self-abusive lifestyle.
It means you have to study biology, pharmacology, sociology, psychology and physiology to fill in the lack of information and support offered by an inadequate medical system, just to have your outside match your heart and mind.
It means you have to work tirelessly against the hate and intolerance of a cruel and unjust world, just to enjoy your remaining years in the beautiful light of authenticity.
It means you have to live your best life despite the unwanted and sometimes violent attention of those who only know hate and lies.
But it also means you get to wake up in a dream more real and validating than any that might have entered your slumbering mind.
For me, being trans means I own my light and I choose to shine against the darkest of nights.
Being trans means I chose to let love win.
