it’s funny how up to this part, save for how everyone in 賀家 just listens to him, yrw is still maintaining his 溫柔/冷淡 facade. It’s understandable why some reviews think that he’s lacking in characterisation but the parts where he interacts 沈休 for example are already showing a different side of him?

IMO, even if cheng yuan accepts xuan ying’s proposal they still won’t be a good couple bc cheng yuan is too soft and goes along with what xuan ying says most of the time… I think xuan ying needs someone who can set clear boundaries and doesn’t treat him differently (yrw)

also I find it fun how basically everyone is acquainted with each other… the fact that shen xiu and yrw know each other, the fact that he chiqin knows the cp from the other novel… makes the world feel more alive and not that they are mere characters to serve a purpose for the story

降臨 by 妄鴉 Honestly only finished it for the selfcest. Not a fan of author’s writing. I didn’t feel attached to any of the characters (maybe except his teacher) except mc, and even then the part where AU mc went crazy + the kinda forced HE ending arent really written well.

海上共潮生 by 黄油小蛋糕 another typical sol hugong novel (compliment) with a unique setting of fish farming. I liked how, despite their age gap, they're both mature/obsessive and had distinct personalities. But imo, the author shd have stopped the "fighting over who gets to top" thing by the end of the novel

I actually prefer not having any interior illustrations in my books when there was no illustration originally… it really breaks my immersion no matter how good the art is, bc words allow room for imagination and art presents a version of the artist’s imagination that’s usually different from mine
