Last weekend in war-ravaged Portland, all the terrorists congregated downtown to celebrate the return of Damian Lillard to our mediocre basketball team. The mascot, Blaze, attempted to fist bump a dog in front of my very eyes. Children wished Dame well after his injury. A truly chilling time

Text reads: In a federal legal filing, lawyers say U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a woman from Mexico outside her asylum hearing Monday morning in downtown Portland. The lawyers say the woman, who is transgender, was seeking asylum in the U.S. several years after being abducted and raped by members of the Knights Templar drug cartel in Michoacán state. She was living in Vancouver, Wash., at the time of her arrest. The alleged arrest would represent the first documented incident of ICE agents appearing at an Immigration Court hearing in Portland.

DRUNK ON LOVE by Jasmine Guillory Contemporary romance; Berkley, 2022 Caught up on this before diving into Guillory’s upcoming follow-up FLIRTING LESSONS. I really really loved the winery setting! And found the romance between Margot and Luke really sweet and compelling.

HOW TO BE A GOOD CREATURE: A Memoir in 13 Animals by Sy Montgomery Non-fiction; published in 2018 by HMH This was so, so lovely; I read it in small bites over a month and almost every single story made me cry. Montgomery’s true love of animals was inspiring and comforting.
