Curved walls are built from square cut timber, with edge-shaped voids determined by the light appear where the boards meet. Detail: Where do our old computers go? Here is a large-scale abstract mixed-media wall art piece by artist Elias Sime. It’s a tapestry made of woven and layered reclaimed electrical wires that are tightly wound and braided, then nailed to a panel. Obsolete circuit boards make a border. Colors are mostly green with gold, purple, turquoise. Sime creates his work by recycling e-waste that he finds at the Menalesh Tera (translated as “what do have?”) open-air markets in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He learned the braiding technique from local women, who then collaborated with him.
