If you're looking for a good book for a friend or family member just getting into Anime then "Ultimate Anime" By Joe O'Connell is a good place to start. It has a kind of magazine style format, accessible writing style and some beautiful screenshots including some 2 page stunners. Recommended.

Rewatching Sol Bianca and forgot just how beautiful the character designs are. In fact everything in this OVA looks great. The tech design, backgrounds, all of it...like many OVAs of the era so much love was poured into it. Shame the original version was unfinished. Such a mood. #RetroAnime #OVAs

Hey new followers. I'm Craig Harmer, a 46 year old "Otaku historian" who likes to write and make videos about older Anime and Manga and talk about Japanese pop culture in general. If that sounds like your bag I hope you'll stick around.

Wow. This is such great news. I'm not even a sports Manga guy but Hajime No Ippo transcends genre, it's an amazing story with absolutely incredible art. Joji Morikawa's panels will make your eyes pop. He conveys movement in fights better than some animators do. #Manga

Utterly devastated because I got hacked on X and they won't do anything about it. Criminals now have my account and my name and Anime writing is attached to that account and they're hacking other people. Have been meaning to move to Bluesky but didn't want it to happen like this 😢1k followers GONE

There's something REALLY aesthetically pleasing about the bright primary colours of the Eva units when grouped together, like in this photo of the 3 Threezero Evangelion figures i own. Excuse the very "vanilla" posing. Just got em out of storage and am mulling over what accessories to give em.

Dear BlueSky Anime fans.....does anyone remember a TV Anime ADV released on DVD in the US/UK around 2005 called YUGO THE NEGOTIATOR? It's a thriller about a private negotiation expert, Yugo Beppu who is called into to help with volatile situations when the usual procedures fail. Solid show.

Favourite shots from the trailer for the upcoming Science Saru Manga adaptation of "Ghost In The Shell" coming this July! Playful, fun loving Manga Kusanagi is MY Kusanagi and I can't wait to see her onscreen. #TheGhostInTheShell #MasamuneShirow #ScienceSaru

Major Kusanagi, the protagonist of Ghost In The Shell. An attractive blue haired girl with red eyes (she is a cyborg) looking thoughtful with her hand resting on her face.

Kusanagi and a passenger in her car. She is driving. Stunned onlookers seem to be mobbing the car and are seen in crowds through the windows.

Kusanagi in a combat suit lowering her leg after delivering a kick to a suspect who is flying through the air and is about to connect with the ground while civilians watch, stunned and some looking slightly alarmed.

Major Kusanagi with a flushed face, looking quite drunk with a wry and slightly sexy smile with her head tilted to the side, holding what looks like a glass of wine. She is wearing a pin striped suit which could either be dark blue or purple, hard to tell because of the low light.

Artists on Bluesky: Can you recommend any good books, websites or Youtube channels to get someone who used to LOVE drawing but was never great at it to get inspired again to give it another go? Last year I did my first drawing in like 20 years and really enjoyed it but I need a bit of motivation.

Just learned that 2004 iconic magical girl Anime PRETTY CURE's first season is now available on Hulu/Disney Plus dubbed. This was not on my bingo card for 2026. In fact it's the Anime streaming announcement equivalent of a yeti knocking on your door & asking to borrow a cup of sugar. #PRECURE

All of these upcoming 4k announcements have got me thinking: I'd like to do some comparisons and give my thoughts on whether certain Anime Movies, OVAs and TV shows are worth spending extra for the 4K or not. Maybe even some DVD Vs Blu ray comparisons for editions that warrant it. Any interest?

Suddenly remembering I have Bluesky and that the AI hellscape of Twitter is not necessarily something I have to endure as I grow tired of watching the same regurgitated clip where everyone hungrily asks "sauce?" after seeing a not that impressive clip that's a promo video and not even a real Anime.

One of the greatest things about my recovery from a long depression (besides the very obvious ones) is that I've thrown myself into my interests in a way I haven't since I was a teenager and in my 20's. I feel like there's so much to be excited about these days it's bliss. #Hobbies

Just participated in an Anime recommendation thread on Twitter to get people to watch stuff they might not otherwise. My pick was: Now and then, here and there. A very dark and poignant sci-fi TV series from 1999 (13 Episodes) Not for everyone but underrated in my opinion. A re-release is overdue.

Dear Bluesky. Do you ever get a song stuck in your head which also has an excellent cover that you like both versions of and you end up with both battling for supremacy in your mind? My head is currently alternating between The commodores version of "Easy" and Faith No More's.

I love it when old Anime references American Pop culture. One of my favourites is in City Hunter (Ep 12) when Ryo realises the guy following him bears a striking resemblance to a certain action megastar. The screen explodes into Ryo imagining him in one of his most famous films. #RetroAnime #80's
