Normal people are getting so sick of these “WOKE IS RUINING GAMING” accounts poisoning all video games discourse that fucking Vincent D’Onofiro is now aware

I get the impression that men who are mad at how women are designed in modern video games are upset they can't jerk off to them; video game women don't adhere to their specific sexual fantasies, and that's apparently a war crime to them.

Random thought: I imagine watching a good variety of animated works (as well as live-action stuff) would give some good inspiration for artists.

Yeah, it’s a bit weird that weebs tend to insist on the original Japanese name for an anime, when a perfectly satisfactory English alternative exists.

I’m now curious: what were the most notable pop culture artifacts (TV shows, films, etc.) produced in the 1970s?

I’m curious about modern depictions of zombies - what we associate with them (e.g., brain-eating) might be recent developments, and are products of American and Japanese pop culture rather than something found in Haitian folklore.

One important element to pop culture is the question of “how much does the average person know about a specific bit of media?”

I've seen so many folks playing Aniimo lately, likely who aren't aware of the GenAI use in the game. Just a PSA that Aniimo DOES indeed include GenAI in both the promotional material and in game.

On the subject of lost media, I think it would be a bit remiss to include "stuff that is inaccessible to the general public" to the definition - it implies the media exist, but can only be seen in specific circumstances.

I had a thought earlier about films and shows from previous decades: it feels like only a small selection of movies and programs from any given decade get regularly discussed years after the fact.

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.

The Democrats defend the Kennedy Center but not trans people.

maybe because defending everything about a super small minority of the population is not worth losing to fascists
