Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 22/10/2025Take a visual break from the continuous onslaught of depressing news with this scenic view of the Betsie River that I took in September. Paddling across Green Lake and down the river in my little kayak is such a peaceful, spirit-renewing experience. ❤️ #michigan #artistlife #nature #kayak #joy 050
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 05/10/2025I found some amazing coral mushrooms (not an edible kind) growing in front of our summer cottage in NW Michigan last week. Along with Slippery Jacks and "Chicken Fat" mushrooms which are edible - I sliced and dried those. 😊 #Michigan #wildmushrooms 010
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 05/10/2025One thing I love about spending summers in NW Michigan is the proliferation of wildflowers along every rural road & highway across the state. From June to October, each month brings different flowers & different colors - not needing human tending, just blooming by themselves and it's wonderful. ❤️ 010
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 04/10/2025It's funny because it's so true (also sad, depressing and disheartening.) Would you believe I saved a photo of that pink-wearing NK newswoman several years ago on my phone and share it every so often, pointing out how right wing media has devolved into the same NK authoritarian propaganda machine? 110
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 30/09/2025No, the garage was too dim to see anything other than "spider" before my friend stomped on it. The doctor was very reassuring about local spiders being 99.9% harmless, I got a tetanus shot, and was much improved by the next day. But still! Not a fun experience. I hope you're feeling better soon! 010
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 30/09/2025I can relate! I stepped barefoot on a spider a couple of months ago and it bit me - I've never experienced such crippling pain, not even a wasp sting was that bad. I didn't think it was a poisonous spider & hated going to an urgent care clinic, but the pain convinced me that I needed an exam. 😢 120
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 30/09/2025I'm so sorry you're dealing with a wrist injury - and I really think you should go get it checked out at one of those urgent care clinics or an ER, someplace that can do an x-ray. They can stabilize the wrist properly for you & make sure no further damage happens. Sending healing energy to you! 🤗🙏 110
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 29/08/2025So in the big #StarWars cast panel this afternoon, Katee Sackhoff & Simon Kassianides probably just helped pre-sell 1500+ tickets for 2026 by saying they've been talking, and next year they both want to join the madness and do the Bunny Hutch costume contest. 😮😁😂❤️👊🐰 #DragonCon2025 @DragonCon 040
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 26/08/2025I loved him in the M:I movies! 🤗 It doesn't seem like there's ever going to be a sequel to Shaun, but if there is then I know there will be legions of excited fans out there, lining up to see it! 😎❤️ 210

Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 17/08/2025Did you notice the body language? My mom pointed it out: Trump was unconsciously mirroring Putin as the two were sitting together after the meeting. A physical tell for someone seeking the other's approval. Also, his posture was like a little kid sitting in a corner, after doing something wrong. 000

Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 22/07/2025I remember them claiming that they couldn't breathe, that wearing a mask would cause great harm from restricted airflow including brain damage from insufficient oxygen. And yet here they are now, ICE & other militia/security forces wearing masks which cover the entire face, not dying from asphyxia. 100
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 22/07/2025That's impressive, a job in Intelligence! He sounds like a great guy, and doing important work. Fair winds and following seas to him! Even if he's currently land locked. 😊 110
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 20/07/2025I appreciate your son's service! Where is he stationed? My stepdad was a Navy Master Chief, his war was Vietnam. One of his ships was the Forrestal, aka "Forest Fire" - a bit of black humor from the sailors after the tragic accident on deck. 120

Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 14/07/2025Wow, what a family legacy! My great-uncle Joe was a Marine in WWII, he served in the Pacific and was part of the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a such a great guy, I wish I could have known him as an adult. Those soldiers & sailors truly were the Greatest Generation! ❤️🇺🇸 111
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 14/07/2025So after years of trial & error, I decided if all my lilies (and hostas) were proving to be the plants best suited for the soil, sun & environment conditions, why not just keep going with what works. 😎 110
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 14/07/2025This is a great article, thanks for sharing it! My garden has both types, the day lilies were the first flowers that survived & thrived while all the daisies, cone flowers and other flowers I tried didn't make it. 110
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 13/07/2025My next goal is to maybe get a few of the kind that bloom twice in a season, instead of only the once. Do you have any experience with those? I haven't run across any for sale in garden centers or the farmers market, but I've seen them online. 😎 110
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 12/07/2025I love lilies - trial & error over the past 7-8 years has shown that these beautiful perennials are the perfect flowers for our garden's conditions. So I've been adding all sorts of colors & varieties, so happy they are thriving & slowly starting to spread. Yay for lilies! Here's a few pics! 😊❤️ 110

Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 16/06/2025Consider how people have been performing Shakespeare for hundreds of years: the scripts are identical, but each performance with different actors & setting makes them distinct! David Tennant did a "modern" version, with security cameras creating the watching eyes & paranoia of Hamlet's life. 😎 010
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 16/06/2025But despite the similarities, it would still be your original story, told in your own voice! And then consider all the other factors that can add to the uniqueness: each actor brings their approach to the characters, cinematography, editing. 120
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 15/06/2025Watching one of those "20 weird things you didn't know" videos about #TheBluesBrothers movie, and I legit LOL'd to learn that Aykroyd's initial script was *324* pages long. Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 15/06/2025Ya'll are both motivating & giving me anxiety....I too have been playing around with a series concept for a while: an Asimov/Heinlein-esque character-driven #scifi set 300 years in the future. I've planned out 2 5-year season arcs, with an idea for 11-15. This seems like a bit of overkill, lol. 😂 130
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 07/06/2025My friend up in Vancouver suggested this idea, saying it could be called Canada's "Southern Territories". 😎 010
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 07/06/2025I asked this very same question in a political group on FB a few weeks back: if & when the Blue-donor states would realize that two could play the "withhold funding" game. I think this is the "states rights" hardball we need right now, in these unprecedented times without rules or norms. 1120
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 07/06/2025"Plausible deniability" sabotage. The DeSantis administration here in Florida did the same thing in my city (Jacksonville): a Pride march across the Main Street Bridge downtown was thwarted by FDOT raising the Bridge during the scheduled time "for maintenance". 😮🙄😢 020
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 10/05/2025Right?! Those men (and women) stepped up when called to service, whether the battlefield or home front. They gave their lives and sacrificed so much, then came home & began building a better world. And in 100 days it's all being destroyed. For what purpose? Absolutely nothing, except spite & power. 121
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 10/05/2025He was an amazing guy, I wish I had the chance to know him as an adult. Used his GI Bill education to get a business degree, founded Mr Steak restaurant chain, invented an ice cream flavor, etc. A Marine to the end, he did pushups every morning until cancer took him. The Greatest Generation = ❤️🇺🇸 130
Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 09/05/2025My great-uncle Joe was one of those Marines who served in the Pacific, and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima. I'm glad he's not alive to see this disgrace of a President, the destruction of our democracy and the downward slide to the authoritarianism rule he fought so hard against. 2402

Kristin @anicat68.bsky.social · 07/05/2025Can I point out that this is one of the major reasons the old Soviet Union collapsed: bankrupting its entire economy in service to its military, competing against the US in the Arms & Space Race. The system starved its people of a functioning society as it spent everything on the Cold War. 120
