When I first moved to this rural area farmers were paid to keep snowploughs ready to deal with blocked roads in the winter. Now we should have farmers prepared with equipment for firefighting. They're already doing loads to help, it should be encouraged. Snowploughs last used here in '87!

44 years ago I planted a tiny Juniper, Grey Owl, next to a Rosa Mundi. Now for 3 weeks every year I have a huge Juniper, 10 metres across, covered in stripey pink and white roses. It's worth the wait!

Stansted airport express pickup is a real rip off. Get in in the middle of the night. Get home exhausted. Forget that you have to go online to pay as you can't pay immediately by card anymore. Wake up next day realising you'll have a sixty quid fine. #stansted

Used to think when I retired I'd learn lots of new skills. Last week I handled ram lambs' testicles so they wouldn't be shocked when being judged at a show. This week I'm massaging ointment into a chicken's scaly legs. It wasn't quite what I had in mind.

Disconcerting convo with old acquaintance last night. Apparently Putin is misunderstood, Russia has had very few casualties, there is no oligarchy and he knows this is all true because he has an ex CIA source. Is this how radicalisation happens? He's very bright but completely certain about this.
