Now, Tim is thinking, “Dearie me, I cannot find what I should see.” He looked and scrolled, and scrolled and looked, But realised his feed was ruined.

Having seen several now, I think the participants are playing up their stereotypes within the habits and rituals of the show.

This is a lovely interview with the two actors, clearly full of affection. And if you know the series, full of equally lovely memories. www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...
Jane Leeves: I was on the set on the first day of the pilot and I saw David walking in and crossing the bleachers. I went racing up to him like a mad fan because I'd been watching [the Washington-DC-based sitcom] The Powers That Be, which was cancelled for some bizarre reason - it was brilliant and he played the most odd and fabulous character. I don't think you really had any dialogue, did you?

David Hyde Pierce: No, I played a suicidal congressman who only mumbled.

JL: I thought there was a calmness, a kindness and an intellect that was devastatingly sexy, I have to say.

DHP: Well, I thought: I can't believe Paramount Studios doesn't have security... No, I realised that I lucked out getting the best loon in the business.

Some of my friends did naughtily write in with absurd questions when another of their friends was writing the column. The rationale being that if an author was paid by the word they should earn the money by doing some research. This devotion to pedantry resulted some time later in The Book of Lists.

#GhostsUS is fast-paced and full of brisk dialogue and multiple stories for an excellent large cast within each 20-minute episode. We’ve just reached the finale with terrible British accents, saved by the sarcastic curator and the Raiders of the Lost Ark archive in the “Museum of England”.

Well, 43-year-old me sends belated apologies. My punishment was when my young children decided to play John Barrowman’s reading of “Another Life” on a long car journey. I belatedly realised how unwise this was when failing to stop the CD before the narrator described someone’s “fuck-me shoes”.

I was so engrossed in the experience that I recorded nothing, took no photos, didn’t even make notes. Witnessing Maylin Renis break a “Timelash” prop was just a memory (until they broadcast the error). Forty years later, fans on Cardiff streets could post camera phone video spoilers in real time.

Because I was a friend of several BBC employees, I occasionally attended some BBC TVC drama recordings in the 1980s — sometimes in the visitors’ gallery (an experience like how the hospital benefactors in the TV movie observe the Doctor’s heart operation) and more rarely a hosted floor visit.

James Goss’s wonderful “Almost Perfect” with The Perfection was also an indicator that the guidelines were more flexible than I was asked to adhere to when writing “Pack Animals” 🙂 Even down to “our house style is not to have chapter titles”. (Except, it turns out, for those that did!)

Those first three #Torchwood novels were 90,000 words each. Subsequent books in the same series were shorter; when I wrote my second one it was 50,000 words long. They were also a bit more restrained, because the publishers realised that bookshops were selling them alongside the #DoctorWho range.

We got early scripts, saw production designs for props and the car. In a London meeting script editor Brian Minchin talked us through all 13 of the series 1 episodes. And we attended a screening of the first episode, which may have been called “Flotsam and Jetsam” at the time.

I’d forgotten that! We had a guided tour of the sets; for some reason they couldn’t put the lights on so that was in the dark. The Hub set was right next door to the TARDIS set which (sob) we did not see. A team member drove us around local Cardiff areas; we walked along Roald Dahl Plass.
