CW: Grooming 1/? A long time coming. And in the current era of wanting to censor the internet and force ID-verification, I think its important for me to share how those kinds of checks would not have protected me at all. alt text might be spread between images, sorry.

I'll put it simply and at the forefront: I was groomed and sexually exploited as a child on the internet for my entire teen years. This is a post looking back on that.

For a very long time, I have treated this as an experience I went through that I closed the door on and moved on from. However, it's impossible for me to really do so because it is embedded in who I am as a person now. I don't care to censor the name of the person who did it to me either. They can go fuck themselves. I spent too long thinking I had to be cordial as the victim.
I also think its just been on my mind, with the censorship and ID-verification hellscape that is happening right now.
I think that it is relevant that I speak about this openly, as I'm comfortable doing so finally. It matters to me that the people that would use me and my experiences as a weapon to call for censorship can see that these moves to "protect children" will not work.

As most teenagers, I snuck my way into nsfw spaces and looked at nsfw image boards out of curiosity and interest. I was a neurodivergent kid that was undiagnosed and struggled to find any sort of relatability to people my age, the sense of "i grew up too fast". So when I was getting along with adults, and getting positive attention from them, I was always very happy.
I never experienced anything negative in the nsfw spaces I invaded when I shouldn't have. Either I would get kicked out if the people were responsible, or I was a lurker that no one even knew was a minor. Nothing I saw there normalised any sort of behaviour between minors and adults for me.

But no one ever really warns that people who actually want to harm minors will go to places where they know there will be minors. Predators will not hang out in places where adults can easily call them out. They will either go to or create spaces where they are the dominant force in the environment, so that the minors they exploit will not have anyone to pull them aside and go "hey, this isn't normal.". This is a lot easier to identify in real life, where your physical body is much more at risk.
But digital second locations exist online and it's much harder to notice you were moved to one as a kid when the digital world feels so abstract. Especially when knowledge about this kind of internet safety was still limited, it having happened in the mid 2010's.

I met Forelle on flight rising when I was 14 within the plague flight discord, and we quickly started getting along. Forelle was twice my age.
I can still see the chat messages between us when I look at my message history in that discord. I deleted all the images of myself that I had shared back then when I rejoined. I don't like seeing the way they complimented my appearance after realising how they used me. Calling me adorable, cute, etc. It feels gross.
We were friends. Good friends, even. And eventually they heard that I was really interested in trying out dnd, so when there was a flight rising dnd server we both congregated there and made a little group. It had to be SFW because of flight rising rules, but we eventually branched out of it into our own server disconnected to FR. Nothing there that would be reportable to the virtual pet-site as TOS-breaking. Initially I took that as "we can do more violence and gore in the stories now!!"
Initially, this simply began as introducing fade-to-black sex scenes here and there in the game. And from there it began spiralling.
