You can’t speed in Chicago, too much traffic and too many traffic control devises. I don’t live in Chicago and rarely encounter a pedestrian anywhere near the roadway on my travels. Incorrect. Cars are much safer today than they were 50 years ago, better brakes, traction control, lane assist, etc. and speed limits on surface streets have stayed the same, or in some cases have been lowered.

I move over or slow way down for cyclists, as I understand you have very little protection. Are you the type of cyclist that is respectful to car drivers and take up as little of the road as possible or the type that is offended we are on the same roadway you are traveling?

I’ve never come close to hitting a pedestrian. When I see one on or near the road I move way over or slow way down, whatever the circumstances dictate.

When people drive 7 miles an hour under the speed limit I assume they are drunk or there is something wrong with their emergency blinkers. In either case I pass them without a second thought.

I have driven a car for over 40 years, probably 600K plus miles, without causing an accident. Every single time I drive, I speed. Not because I’m reckless or dangerous, but because the posted speed limit has no relation to the road’s true safe speed. Make the limit reasonable and I won’t speed.
