First attempt at plate armour. Not finished needs dry and add some reflections and some depth of colour. Black base,lowlights prussian blue,highlight basalt grey then multiple layers of thin gunmetal,edge with steel. Then desaturate with a black ink wash Phew. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

Biggles done. Just need to attach the pipes & cords. Struggled with fleece in jacket and its too pink in the face,the eyes are poor. But the leather worked out ok and the straps turned out better than I hoped. May try this kit again one day Fab kit by Young Miniatures #scalemodels #histscalemodels

Youngs miniatures pilot. Good fun so far, helmet needs metal work and goggles finishing. The roll neck jeck jumper was a mare. Will redo the straps as they are too green and needs matt coat. Well that was a great day painting, even tho it's gone glossy. Mae West is challenging as its a funny colour to get right. Humbrol paint is ok,thick but brushes ok. Spent ages on helmet. Ended up dry brushing bright orange on it and then washing with black & umber phew #histscalemodels #scalemodels

A couple of coats of waffen brown as a base for the face and collar and to add a bit brownest to the helmet. So that style was black with brown highlights as they wore in sooo may dry brush black onto it or something I dunno anyway progress... #histscalemodels #scalemodels #scalemodelsaturday

In my real world job I work for an engraving and trophy shop I got to use the £30 a pot of paint on a trophy. Laser both sides and coloured on one This paint is ace its very rich the pigment is so thick we have to stir on a paint shaker for 5 minutes Came up a treat #histscalemodels #scalemodels

More work on my German fella. Had some help from @Orbness on Twitter, added glazes of English uniform from Vallejo,this off sets the starkness of black white & grey. Used Grimey grey and Ivory as top coats. Cheers bruv works a treat Anyway progress #histscalemodels #scalemodelsaturday #scalemodels
