Hunger in rural Illinois is real. Over 7,500 people rely on SNAP in Macoupin County. Our local Democratic Party is turning tonight‘s annual fundraising event into a food drive to push back on Trump‘s arbitrary decision end SNAP on November 1st.

4/5 Lastly, one thing I hope you take from the Report. Despite FY26 challenges, Gov Pritzker+Dems have proven we manage responsibly. This chart shows what this same report looked like in FY18 & that Gov Pritzker+Dems each year have turned forecasted deficits into balanced budgets w/ EOY surpluses.

3/5 Here's FY25 (current). Be wary of calls for 'across the board cuts' as easy solution to FY26 challenges. Much of our spending (pensions, Medicaid, etc.) is off limits. You can't apply 'ATB' to all spending so impact of 'ATB' cuts becomes exponential in parts of budget where they can be applied.

2/5 Budget Stabilization Fund (Rainy Day Fund) has record $2.2b balance. Rauner drained it. Promised to pay it back. Never did. We've made great strides here. Def more to do to get this where is should be. Gov Pritzker + Dems have prioritized this & it's a huge reason for continued credit upgrades.
