Alyssa Edwards is a classy queen through and through. Ken Paxton is fucking desperate, clearly.

A tweet from Alyssa Edwards with the text: "An open letter to @KenPaxtonTX" with two images of the letter attached. Those two images are attached and have the text of the letter in the alt text.

Page one of an open letter from Alyssa Edwards to Ken Paxton which reads:

Ken Paxton,

Hello there. I'm not sure I fully understand your motive or intention in attempting to disparage my name, my character, or my reputation. But I do know this: the way we choose to speak about others often says far more about our own character than it ever will about theirs.

As a Texan and a very proud one at that, I would hope that your focus would remain on policy, leadership, and what time intend to provide for the future of ALL Texans.

And since you wanted your followers to meet me, allow me to properly introduce myself.

My name is Justin Johnson, born-and-raised, in Mesquite, Texas. I am one of seven children. I am an educator of 30 years, a choreographer, an entertainer, a mentor - and yes, I also happen to be a drag performer. Inspired by Miss Doubtfire and Patrick Swayze in "To Wong Foo".

My career has taken me places I could never have imagined. I have appeared on America's Got Talent alongside my students, competed on Amazon's The GOAT, ABCs To Tell the Truth, and had the honor of winning RuPaul's Drag Race Global All Stars, where I proudly represented the United States of America.

Cont.

The second page of an open letter from Alyssa Edwards to Ken Paxton:

But among all of those accomplishments, one of the things I remain most proud of is Beyond Belief Dance Company.

What began as a community recreation program at a YMCA,a grew into a place where generations of young people have been encouraged to discover their creativity, ignite their passion, develop discipline, and, perhaps most importantly, believe in themselves. I have devoted more than half of my life to that purpose. Watching my students go on to attend college conservatories, pursue professional dance careers, and become meaningful contributors to society has been the greatest reward of all.

I also grew up in the Baptist church, and my Christian faith remains part of my story. My life may look different from yours, but difference does not diminish character, faith, service, or a person's ability to contribute to their community.

Ultimately, I am proud of who I am. I know who I am. I know what I stand for, and what I still hope to accomplish.

And if you happened to catch my Netflix docuseries along the way, I sincerely hope you enjoyed it.

(Bolded by Alyssa for emphasis) Texas is big enough for all of us.

With Texas pride,
Justin Johnson

2. I was also awarded membership for life, which was truly an honor as well, and I was inducted with a great group of YDs that are either already in party leadership or will be soon.

Realized that I didn't make my post about @texasyds.com convention, so here goes: 1. I was awarded the inaugural Bill Brannon Mentorship and Service Award, named after a great fighter in Texas Democratic politics. We lost Bill last year, and I'm grateful to even be mentioned in the same sentence.

Welp, I guess Steak n Shake went full MAGA/MAHA to try and revive their failing business. I used to love SnS but they started sucking as soon as the current owner bought them. They couldn't even keep the restaurants open near their HQ. But "healthy" beef tallow. That'll save 'em. 🙄

Thanks for the leadership in the crusade to Make America Healthy Again." The quote tweet is quoting a @SteaknShake post announcing their transition to beef tallow.

I'm truly tired of the Republicans screaming about the debt, as if they aren't a huge part of the problem there. Their strategy of cutting taxes never accomplished anything but ballooning the debt and making the rich even richer. That trickle down shit really stuck, huh?

7 years since I had to get rid of my first car. Still miss that little powerhouse. It went through a lot. It took me to my first @texasdemocrats.bsky.social convention in 2010, to Los Angeles, to my Dad's house in Missouri, and many other places important to my story. I wonder where it is now.

I'm not just posting this because I helped write this section with the @texasyds.com Weather Caucus, but it is timely to remember that @texasdemocrats.bsky.social call for protection of the NWS (and by extension, the NOAA). See www.texasdemocrats.org/platform

The Weather Safety and Response section of the Texas Democratic Party Platform:

Support increased funding to close gaps in radar coverage in rural parts of Texas,

Support funding to update the technologies used in our existing radar systems, allowing for shorter downtimes and greater resolution,

Support increased funding for the National Weather Service,

Oppose privatization of the National Weather Service,

Support funding for Meteorology programs at Texas Universities, and

Support sharing of weather data collected by state agencies and public universities with the National Weather Service
