The motion is anti-racist.

I'm sure many would like to believe it isn't about Israel. Take a stand that would split his party even more and give his political opponents ammunition. That's dumb.

Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
What purpose would that serve? It would have inflamed things, given even more headlines to their opponents and ammunition for months.

On this issue? No, I don't think they do. Changing the leader wouldn't alter one persons opinion on Israel. On other issues, sure, they listen.

Prompting a leadership crisis, giving massive 'antisemitism in the Green Party' headlines for months. Sounds like good strategy?!?!

Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Yes. Do you understand that a leader can't dictate what it's members do? (At least in the Greens). Do you really think Polanski saying 'don't vote for this' would have made a difference to those voting for the motion? You think they'd listen? If you do, you don't understand them at all.

Those voting for the motion held their opinions most strongly. You really think Polanski telling them not to would have made a difference? It's a fantasy.

Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
What would that have changed?
411
Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
And that would have had what effect on the motion? Absolutely none.

Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Unlike the other parties, Polanski doesn't actually get to dictate what happens in the Greens. There was literally nothing he could do to stop this motion being proposed/debated/passed.

Banned from somewhere he had no intention of going to.

The most we can say at the moment is that he looks like he'll be the first to actually try to.

That's an alarmist headline. The article literally says it will be replaced by something else. AND none of this has actually been announced. It's not policy. It's speculation.

Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Nonsense. You need to actually read the details.
100
Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
It's misleading headlines and alarmist language. You need to stop being over-dramatic and believing what you read online.

Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I don't think that's what it says. "One possible plan is for a separate regime to apply to the under-25 agegroup, with reduced or withdrawn entitlements – although those with the most severe and debilitating disabilities would not lose any money."

Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the article say they will be replacing it with something else? Not just ditching it. Seems like an alarmist clickbait headline to me.
100
Andy Curtis @andykar2.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Wouldn't working age disable people be covered under disability benefits instead? I know there are big problems with that too, but that's not the issue this is supposed to address.

And every socialist policy in Scotland has been enacted somewhere else too. Why doesn't the SNP acknowledge who they copied them from? They're frauds!

'Mad, nasty and shockingly extreme'. Applies much more to you - and certainly to your guest Truss. Why you think she's an authority on anything is baffling.

And by 'revealed sensitive details' you mean 'made stuff up'. They aren't even terrorists.

Why is it troubling? If they were terrorists, they wouldn't have been released.

Why are the media desperate to talk about this? There is no story here.

No, no. It should be required, not illegal.

Radical idea: cap political donations at £0. No outside jobs (except to keep professional accreditation). No gifts. No free trips or tickets. If you donate money, you expect something back. Fund parties by member subscriptions only. Make politicians work for voters, not donors.

And because these laws are there to protect us from our politicians being unduly influenced. If this doesn't matter, we are effectively saying we don't care if our politicians have been bought.

It certainly baffled most of us in the UK.

Absolutely. But also a brilliant character, showing how people manipulate vulnerabilities and desires of others.

If someone thinks that doing things to irritate those you are negotiating with is a good strategy, then they are an idiot.

It's about if they get bail - it was claimed they are a flight risk due to their wealth enabling them to disappear if they wanted. Their lawyers have had to own up that they don't have anything like the wealth they pretend to.

Please stop saying “but he IS establishment” when challenging Farage’s anti-establishment rhetoric. He isn’t. He’s a tool of the rich and super-rich. Neither are they— they don’t play by establishment rules. But being anti-establishment doesn’t mean being pro-worker. Quite the opposite, in fact.

'Further' action? I think they mean 'any'. They could have added, 'because it's ridiculous'. And 'malicious reporting of non-crimes amounts to wasting police time'

Let's elect him and give a chance to deliver then. Kind of nuts to criticise him for not delivering on his policies when he's not been elected. Yet.

Every broadcaster has the same approach to multi-sports events. I spend most of my time during the Olympics shouting at the TV - "show me the sport for heaven's sake"

Tries to set traps, but doesn't even do that well. Never asks tough or interesting questions. It's why the politicians love to be interviewed by her.

England threw that away. Far too early to go defensive and voiding the midfield against Argentina is just inviting constant pressure.
