Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 14/08/2026Frankly I was delighted as I couldnt find my phone but couldn't be arsed to get up and look for it. Down the side of the sofa.. thanks Andy Burnham! This is what I pay my taxes for. 040
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 14/08/2026A lot of people in the UK perplexed by the governments severe warning alert (the sort you expect when nukes start flying) about not using disposable BBQs. Well frankly I was delighted as I had misplaced my phone half an hour before and couldn't be bothered to look for it. Down the side of the sofa.. 060
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 12/08/2026I didn't know this.. I did think that such a cool title was a little un-british. I am happy to discover that it is exactly as mediocre as I would expect. 010

Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 21/07/2026I want entirely happy with how I lit and framed the photos... So here's some more I took. 092
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 21/07/2026Finished my Dark Angels Captain from the Armageddon box. It's an absolutely to model to paint, very much enjoyed it. I wasn't sure I was going to get the box but this guy was the tie breaker. If anyone is interested, the hooded head is a spare from the Lions kit. #warhammercommunity #nerdlings 3533

Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 21/07/2026It's an odd one. It's actually a contrast paint (skeleton horde) glaze over the highlights. Often makes it go a bit shiny. I'm actually contemplating putting a matt varnish over it to bring the sheen down a bit.. but then, I quite like it. 110
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 20/07/2026More progress on my Dark Angels captain. Spent more time than necessary tinkering around with the power sword but pretty happy with how it came out. #warhammercommunity #nerdlings 3779

Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 13/07/2026I've started work on the captain from Armageddon for my Dark Angels army. Base costs are on and I've highlighted the green. #warhammercommunity #nerdlings 0301
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 22/06/2026Cheers! I've been painting dark angels for a good 2-3 years and it only just occurred to me that all those robes could be put to good use! 000
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 22/06/2026Cheers! And with my Armageddon box coming today a little less guilt about how much I painted off the previous editions! 010
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Finished! Completed the Dark Angels ancient I've been painting. I built and primed it six years ago but just realised how perfect a dark angel he makes.. popped the head off and gave him a cowled head. A nice filler while I wait for my Armageddon box. #nerdlings #warhammercommunity 2383
Reposted by Andy HainesPat Ryan @crankytapir.bsky.social · 18/06/2026Behold the power of the fully completed Octoblade! So big it doesn't fit in my little lightbox. I started working on this nearly 2 and a half months ago. It's kind of surreal to think it is done. #hobbystreak day 14 #miniaturepainting 1447
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 18/06/2026WIP of a Dark Angels ancient that I am working on.. the one from the indomitus box #warhammercommunity #nerdlings 1201
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026I did play a couple of games of third (I've still got the rulebook because I left it at a friend's house in 1999 and retrieved it 25 years later). I liked how much they streamlined it. 120
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026I'm a bit all in on killteam now. Really like the gameplay style, and I don't have the patience for a full scale game. I do wonder about having a game of 2nd with my son though, lol 110
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026About 5-6 years ago I got a load of 4th, 5th and 6th edition codexes for a few quid each, often from Amazon marketplace. Inflation has definitely been a thing. I'm hoping one day this angels of death codex will go on sale at Sotheby's and pay for my dotage. 110
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026I rarely played 40k till recently. I loved the aesthetic but actually played either WFB, epic or necromunda. I played a couple of games of 3rd edition then went off to uni and didn't really pick up the hobby again until my thirties. 120
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026Haha... Yeah. I'm so gutted my mum chucked mine out. My mate has a load of rogue trader era stuff including the OG rulebook and tub after tub of rare lead minis. I told him he could sell the lot and pay off his mortgage. 100
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026I was drifting out of the hobby for a year or so at the end of 2nd so the SoB one passed me by.. that cover artwork though! I'm most interested in the earlier ones, I had all apart from SoB and Chaos. Ultramarines would be nice. I missed my stop on the train back from GW in Hull reading that. 110
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026Yeah, I think it's gone through the roof in the last 2-3 years. I think it's the advent of a lot of middle aged men getting back into the hobby. Me included. Definitely worth it. These two codexes are gorgeous. My dream is to get the complete collection. SoB and Chaos go for like £80 though. 130
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026And I did buy all the white dwarfs from 1991-1997 (my era), usually paying £10ish. That was over a few years though.. 3-4 a month doesn't seem so bad. 110
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026The Angels of death cost me £60. I deliberate for ages before pressing the button. It's a lot.. but then I've happily spent £40 on a rulebook or something and I'll get a lot more out of this. The guard codex is on my radar.. 130
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026The Angels of Death codex is amazing (and in good Nick). 140
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026Treated myself to a bit of nostalgia off of eBay #nerdlings #warhammercommunity 4330
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026It's based on a scheme of an army featured in white dwarf back in 2nd edition. Back then salamanders were barely a thing and didn't have the flamey colour scheme. My theory is (based on little evidence) that the WD scheme was the inspiration for the modern salamanders scheme. 010
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 29/05/2026FINISHED! Completed the Dark Angels Ballista Dreadnaught I've been working on. I'm bringing the total number of minatures I've finished from the leviathan box up now. It's not as embarrassing as it was... #nerdlings #warhammercommunity 2506
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 27/05/2026More work today on my Dark Angels Ballista Dreadnaught. A few touches left and then the base and it'll be done. 0283
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 24/05/2026I think it works well. I'm going to add a bit more red to this tomorrow but I do think I should use much more orange in my schemes. 110

Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 25/04/2026Cheers! I had a custom space marine chapter in bone armour at one stage.. I got a lot of practice, lol 020
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 25/04/2026FINISHED! Completed painting the terminator captain from the Leviathan box. I've painted him for my dark angels 3rd company army. The flamey red is a tribute to an army featured in white dwarf in 1994. #nerdlings #Warhammercommunity 3525

Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Tbh... Sometimes transfers are a skill in and of themselves, lol 110
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Great for putting a gradient on! This is why I love a redemptor Dreadnaught. Is the gold on the red free hand? 110
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Very nice! Love a howling griffin. It is a really great model, but simple as you say. I actually prefer my marines uncomplicated to let my painting show. Lots of wide open armour panels is perfect for me. 110
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 14/04/2026I figured since the new 40k edition is out, painting just 4 models out of the last one is a pretty poor return so I'm painting the terminator captain. I finished his power sword tonight. #nerdlings #warhammercommunity 1321
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 07/03/2026Me neither. Everyone has a go at the pots.. look after them and they are fine. Also, people rave about this range or that.. I try them and find it's much of a muchness. I have the odd paint from other ranges but 99% citadel. 120
Andy Haines @andyhaines.bsky.social · 07/03/2026I buy citadel paints because I can't be arsed to work out the colour conversions to other ranges. So maybe they've hit the nail on the head. 120
