Today I learned that my combo of gearing and legs allows me to climb 7% fine, 8% for a few km but 9% and above is brutal, revs too low, or legs too weak take yer pick. My ascent of Col de la Colombiere was not pretty. Or without increasingly frequent tactical photo stops! I mean look at that end…

A little something for the 100% of drivers that obey all traffic laws. Tl;dr - it is effectively illegal to pass any cyclist on bloor without changing lanes because there is no space to do so safely. So once they rip out the bike lanes? You still can’t use that lane to drive in.

Well my old shoes have done well over 20,000km in everything from Toronto summer heat to Toronto icy winters and have lasted 20 years. Time to break in a new pair. Here’s to the next 20 years of biking joy! (First report: great, some cleat adjustment…but I prefer the old Velcro straps argh!)

Well I read this. I am assured it is a masterpiece of world literature. It is very rare I come away from a ‘masterpiece’ book without a feeling that I see some part of the world differently. This one? To me it read like a jumbled draft and not a single scene or phrase sticks with me. Disappointing!
