Two years at our new place and the garden is becoming a nature sanctuary at last. Bee-friendly cottage garden planting, bee water stations, all the prev owners’ plastic grass torn out and flowers/grass in its place, and next week bat boxes on our house. It’s a privilege and a joy doing this!

Absolute hobby fundamentals this afternoon, I’m building a nice big mob of Ork Boyz! And I’m having a frankly lovely time…

When the Ork codex drops and I get my grubby mitts on one I won’t tell people, but there will be signs…

If you have Disney + it’s appeared on there now - it’s super good fun, can recommend

It so is! I don’t know why it did so badly when it’s basically Alien(s) but in the Mariana Trench… like… what’s not to like?

010

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

So Abigail is my only one I’ve not watched before so I am looking forward to it! Good to hear you enjoyed it 😊

110

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

A good looking question! I watched it not long back so it’s currently tapped and on cooldown until next Halloween. Same with Daybreakers (which sadly does eliminate my two Sam Neil choices… which means I need to add Mouth of Madness to this list!)

The thing I really like about the Word Bearers is that possession is nine tenths of the lore

Haha such cynicism, and from one so young…

010

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Right? The sense of humour was dark as a tar pit but it was still funny!

010

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Also Anne Hathaway absolutely STOLE that film. Everyone else was fine, but she was acting out of her socks!

040

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

So, End of Oak Street. That was actually a pretty good film? Like, it had slight Cabin in the Woods energy, just sort of unexpected and quirky, one minute funny the next gut wrenching, and ultimately a fun film. And also neither a sequel nor a supers movie, something standalone so hooray for that!

What computer game would you like to see a really good, big budget cinema adaptation of? (For this hypothetical we’re assuming they nail it and the film would be brilliant). For me it’d be Dead Space.

Yup, Necrons, Orks and Word Bearers for me. Ah thanks 😊

010

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

It’s only taken me… *checks notes* ah. Rather a long time to get round to it 😂 I think he’s the last Necron from the box that I hadn’t painted though so objective achieved I guess!

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 30/07/2026

Yeah, for me I think it’s the point when the podcast wanders off its usual topic (part one of why I listen to it) and the standard chemistry between the hosts changes (part two of why I listen to it) and it turns into a vehicle for promoting the guest’s latest [insert thing]. That just loses me.

110

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 30/07/2026

Oh that’s lovely 😊 yeah absolutely fair, as a rule guest eps aren’t for me but they’re definitely not a bad thing by default and you make a great point 😊

110

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

It’s not just me, right? “Hello and it’s another episode of that podcast you like!” Ooh great! “And this week we’ve got a guest with us, it’s -’ Aaaaand no thank you. Skip.

Hah well then I will give it a watch when I get the chance, thanks for the recommendation!

I haven’t seen that actually, a bit good was it? 😊 oh definitely vouching for it, I haven’t laughed that much in a long while

If you get the chance to see the Operation Mincemeat musical, may I just heartily recommend you seize it with both hands (and possibly your feet too if you have the dexterity). We watched it last night in Notts and it was just about the best thing I’ve ever seen in a theatre! Just brilliant stuff!

Ok 11th is a lot of fun! We only managed two turns between learning and nattering, but I really like: - The new dispositions system makes stories just spring into life - The battle tracker on the app is brilliant - The new DP system made us both try out new detachments and we really enjoyed them

I’m reading through the 11th ed 40K rulebook and it’s just struck me: this is my 10th time reading a new edition’s rules. On and off I’ve been doing this for about 33 years. That feels like quite a privilege, to have enjoyed a hobby for so long through so many incarnations, and stages of my life.

3390

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 30/06/2026

Haha see I do have a soft spot for those incredibly cheap rubbish DVDs that have really impressive looking scenes on the back and none of them appear in the film, so you just know someone was sat there with photoshop desperately trying to polish a cowpat

130

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

That drives me nuts. Also honourable mention for ‘trailer makes it look like the film’s got a clever twist and more depth than it seems from the trailer because they couldn’t make it THAT obvious could they?’ Then it turns out to be exactly that dumb. This may be a me problem, I admit

Second batch of Freebooter Beast Snagga Boyz painted, which means the mob is done! Waaagh!

Kap’n Grimmbad’s Halfskullz, all done and dusted complete with the ship’s Wurrboy, Gitfrazzle

Got to say these days, if I have to remember more than a handful of basic rules for how my character works in a ttrpg then I’m probably out, especially with groups that only manage to gather like once every month or so. I can’t be bothered to spend my game re-reading lots of rules I forgot yet again

They are 100% correct when they use the term ‘misery’ about hay fever. It’s beyond a joke this year, got to say.

0111

Andy Clark @andyclarkauthor.bsky.social · 13/06/2026

Still WIP. Basing paint just went on, and each model needs individual treatment for rust, stripes, glowy gubbinz and weathering, then the entire mob needs its basing finished. BUT the second 10 Beast Booterz of my mob o’ 20 are nearing the finish line!

Some space-piratical, beast snagtastic, still quite WIP Orks

You know what? I REALLY enjoy painting Orks. Especially their faces.
