Two versions of the ghostly guardians on the brick towers of East Mebon temple at Angkor. Originally sculpted in stucco, in the 10th century, the Ai version on the right gives you a glimpse into the past.

13,000+ quartz-crystals were excavated from the Srah Srang lake at Angkor, #Cambodia in 2020 and are now on display at the Sihanouk-Angkor Museum in Siem Reap.

These feet were excavated at Angelina Joliet’s fave temple, Ta Prohm and are part of an exhibition of recovered fragments of Lokeshvara statues that have just gone on a 6-month display at the Preah Norodom Sihanouk Angkor Museum in Siem Reap. They were excavated in 2024/25.

I’m pictured at the 10th century temple of Bat Chum at Angkor yesterday, which has been renovated in recent years. Known for its door inscriptions which request elephant owners to keep good control of your beasts!

Memory from October 1994 when the only access to the upper/top level of Angkor Wat was via the terrifying original, worn stone steps. Today a safer stairway is available. It’s well worth it. Every 14th and 28th after 1pm, the top level is closed. #Cambodia

This boat has seen better days. It used to be used to collect weeds and debris from the massive moat surrounding Preah Khan in the Angkor Park. A walk around the outer enclosure path and you have the whole area to yourself. #Cambodia

This 9th century polished sandstone statue of the god Vishnu, has returned to #Cambodia from the private stash of disgraced ‘Dynamite Doug’ Latchford in London. He fooled everyone for decades as he trafficked Khmer objects around the globe including this looted masterpiece.

Positive news for #Cambodia with the Smithsonian’s Asian Art Museum in Washington DC announcing the return of 3 Khmer artworks to Cambodia, and San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum doing the same for 13 pieces. Once looted but now coming home.
