But in more interesting news, I bought an RC car!! Picked up the #Rlaarlo XTS P12 1/12 rally car and it's awesome! Took my kid nephew out to an abandoned car park to bomb around, great evening! (Forgot to set the camera to 120 fps though, but that just means we need to do round 2!)

Repurposing #CounterAttack for a game of American Football. This could actually work!! Players have individual stats and then the dice create the magic. Here our QB throws down field to our WR(7) who won his dice match with the CB(5) and sped ahead. LB(6) rolls a 2, no INT on the throw...

Go #seahawks I played some Madden last night. It really does play like ass. I couldn't put my finger on why I'm enjoying #MaximumFootball so much until I played Madden then went back to MF. It's the physics engine. Madden is scripted plays. MF is reactive physics.

Tried generating hex grids using AI via GitHub Copilot, Unity AI and Bezi Sidekick. Keep in mind this isn't difficult once you bother to learn it. And given AI is just regurgitating known code, this should be a breeze. Sigh. The first two just sucked. Like so bad. Awful, awful, awful.

Huh...it turns out there really are only so many times you can tell folks not to use AI art before you want to stab out your eyes! And here's the issue with AI in games, and why studios can accidentally end up with AI in the finished product, it's because not everyone agrees, so they'll use it.

Bought this at the weekend. It's not bad. Basic, but has potential. It's important to remember how naff Rocket League was in 2015. Rubber banding, crashing servers, none of the cool customisations we have now etc. It's wrong to expect a launch game to be as fleshed out as a 10 year evolution!

Lolz, I just discovered the -j option on pg_dump! Upped the VM to 8 CPUs and set -j 8 and boom! 35Gb database that took 17 mins finished in sub 2mins. Wtf?! Hopefully it restores ok and hopefully as it was so fast there's now minimal integrity issues. Nice way to end a Friday! #postgres #sql

Not just highly anticipated, it's YEARS overdue! And it's almost, almost awesome. It just falls short. Pro: unintended(?) but you can create shapes for use with ARPs, Goodbye KeyStep? Con: You have to key the chords note by note, wouldn't it be great if you could just dial these in from a library?

Today I experimented with 2D URP lighting in #Unity for #CluckYeah. Now the fence emitters light up the canyon. And for the eagle eyed, all the level sprites have been re-drawn, and everything re-scaled, physics re-calculated. More on that later. New beta build coming soon! #gamedev #indiedev

New game idea: Battle of the bands cozy farming, research, upgrade gear and snacks, enter comps, win currency, repeat loop. Until... Musicians age, eventually too much to compete, are sent off in a van to a retirement home for old musicians. May be inspired by Paddington in Peru!

I am still the only person on bluesky using this hashtag. And that's the problem. They focused on expansions rather than marketing the base game. The other problem of course is boardgamers tend to not like football. And football fans tend to not like boardgames. I am a rare breed.
