It worked well yesterday for his goal! I think DF does a lot of things well. He obviously has a good harmony in the squad, but his sub thinking needs improving, plus he basically always chooses the same 11 (barring injuries etc) which can be partly attributed to lack of depth but not entirely tho.

Considering that: 1 - they're the reigning Champs 2 - they're the favourites to win it again this season. 3 - it was at their ground. 4 - which is in London, not a happy hunting ground for us. 5 - after an international break, where we've struggled of late too. I think we can take a lot of +++

Yeah, that's true - he's very predictable, like always around 65 minutes, and always BA coming on, which must make things easier for opposing coaches to plan for.

I don't want Farke out, as i think his strengths outweigh his faults, but i do want him to start improving his thinking re subs though. I realise it's tough for him as we don't have much depth on the bench but he does the same almost every time though, & always so reactive instead of proactive.

The problem with bringing on BA is he offers nothing else except his workrate, & against top players like Arsenal have that isn't enough. Maybe Longstaff doesn't press as well but he can hold his own physically & can offer something when we have the ball too.

Although i am disappointed with the score today, i was very happy with what i saw of the first 60 of the game or so, & it's clear we've made big improvements from last season. The fact we are disappointed to lose only 2-1 to the reigning champs & the favourites to win this years trophy is good sign.

The big difference today was their subs cost £265m & ours cost £45m (30 of which was BA!), plus Arteta was about to make subs before they scored but then still made the subs after they'd scored to keep their feet on our throats, whereas DF is too often reactive & timid with his sub decisions.

Maybe he's not the best player if we need a goal but as he was brought on for Tanaka then it would have been better for us than BA. I'd have liked to have seen Bahoya on earlier but he'd have had to come on for Okafor instead of Wilson though, imo.

I know it wasn't BA's fault we lost, but DF bringing him on when we need a goal is so illogical! He can be useful when we're trying to not concede but that's it at this level. Why not bring on Longstaff, who at least matches up physically with a team like Arsenal. This is my main issue with DF!

I remember seeing some Fulham fans saying over the summer that he's quite a streaky player, so perhaps that's what we're seeing. And that will be magnified by him hardly playing to get himself into form.

Had a soft spot for them as my uncle used to be a steward there until '82. He used to take me to games whenever i visited & there was a game on. Then i loved watching them under Wenger, but now they're probably my most hated PL team, cos of Arteta, there style of play & cheating, + their support! 😡🖕

Agreed. In my opinion, the bar seems to be set so low for BA with the majority of Leeds supporters that a 7/10 performance for him is the same as a 9 or a 10 for every other player.

According to the BBC website, last season 13 teams finished within 4 places of their positions after 5 games & over last 10 seasons 138 out of 200 did the same so, according to these stats, we have about a 2/3 chance of finishing between 1st & 9th! I'll gladly take those odds! 🤍💛💙 #LUFC

Just looking up Como & saw something kinda strange/interesting. They've 10 points after 5 & are sitting 8th in the league while we have 9 from 5 & are 5th, so have a point less but are 3 spots higher. Nothing incredible, clearly, but just seemed interesting to me, the fickleness of sport.

Exactly! Back when i used to play local amateur footy, if my CB's had of done that, I'd have subbed them straight off! He plays for Como too, who are a good team at the moment under Fabregas!
