Good call with Zelenskyy today. Fully supported his call for a ceasefire that would protect global food supplies and energy infrastructure in ukraine and Russia. The war has entered a new, grimmer phase. Russia is stalling on the battlefield and striking civilians far behind the front lines.

Until now the EU was the only serious financial supporter of Ukraine, but was expecting the US political leadership will help to bring peace to Ukraine. A time comes when the EU together with Ukraine needs to elaborate and implement an independent Peace Strategy.

Today I’m in Hamburg focusing on #MilitaryMobility🇪🇺 NATO makes defence plans & determines capabilities needed. But those plans will work only if we can move soldiers&equipment across the continent – and fast. We need 🇪🇺 military mobility rules to defend Europe; we need Military Schengen.

Every euro we send to Ukraine turns into air defence with drone interceptors & missiles. Today @ec.europa.eu 🇪🇺 launched a fifth disbursement of €1.24b for 🇺🇦 under #UASL of €90b. And it will continue doing so. Russia will not intimidate Europe with its hybrid incursions.

The agreement to release €6.6 billion from the European Peace Facility for Ukraine is excellent news. It means more support, from training to equipment. It complements what we are doing through our Ukraine support packages – for the state and for defence. More is coming from our side. Very soon.
