Sooooo rad seeing DJ Shadow perform his 30th anniversary arrangements of "Endtroducing" front-to-back at the Novo in downtown LA last night. He has apparently never had the occasion / basic stems & samples available to properly tour this record until now. What a treat.

I also recall Brett saying in The Face—I think?—after “Dog Man Star” came out where he talked about wanting to strip the songs back to simpler chord structures. It was an intentional shift away from the proggier side of DMS, and when “Trash” came out I was like, Ah!

It was such a huge deal! Especially as the first big post-Butler release. I remember when “Together” came out as a “New Generation” B-side that it was the first sign that the next Suede phase had serious potential to be very different and a whole new, amazing thing.

I know it is not the point, but I just found out that “Don’t Fear the Reaper” peaked at no. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, which seems kind of low? Apparently there was no getting past “Rock’n Me” in November 1976
