A simplified, cozy scene. I’m working on developing my ability to edit down and stylize a scene to emphasize the feeling of a painting. #watercolor #painting #landscape #art

Wet rocks again! I loved the layout of the reference I found. It had these cool cliffs with lots of trees and vegetation zigzagging around. The reference was a bit dark and I found the water color a bit artificial. I love how the painting came out! #watercolor #art #painting #landscape #nature

A bit more experimentation with transparent water. I actually ended up struggling the most with the hilly forest in the background. It’s hard to find a balance between showing enough detail to inform the viewer and not painting every tree. #watercolor #art #painting #landscape #nature

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I’m happy with how the underwater rocks came out, but a lot of other elements might have gotten overworked. #watercolor #painting #landscape #nature #art

I focused on practicing getting interesting textures and colors into grass here. It can be difficult to get detail in while keeping a sense of distance in the field. Here’s my latest attempt. #watercolor #landscape #art #painting #nature

Covfefe. Latte art in watercolor. It ended up being so much harder than I thought. It’s hard to preserve all that whitespace. What do you think? #painting #art #coffee #watercolor

So, it’s sorta a repost, but I ended up fiddling with this one. Way too much. I practiced bird shapes beforehand, but I still ended up having to cover up a ton of them. That’s… what happened with the white swatches in the sky. It kinda works though?

Painted as a gift. I’ve been struggling with getting sloppy with my technique. I wanted this one to be a simple composition where technique and careful timing and layering are everything #landscape #painting #art #watercolor

Hello again #ArtAdventCalendar! Today we have a watercolor mountain I painted last night! #watercolor #painting #art #traditionalart #landscape
This is a vertical watercolor painting of a mountain. The top of the painting is covered with a textured dark blue. The blue is faded to a purply red in vertical streaks that finally fade to a light blue that swirls around the mountain peaks. A white splatter covers the whole painting. The effect is a colorful, wintery sky with a light snow blowing through. A detailed mountain sits below the sky. Its highest peak reaches two thirds of the way up the painting. It is a skinny peak that is slightly angled to the left. The left side is shaded with blacks and blues while the right catches the sun revealing yellow and red rocks covered in white snow. Two more peaks sit below the tallest. One to the right and one to the left. Their colors and textures mimic the tallest creating a composition that guides the eye through the painting in a zig zag pattern from left to right and back to the left again at the bottom of the painting.

Hey #ArtAdventCalendar! Today’s post is a watercolor landscape I painted early in my art journey. I love how cheerful it is! I painted the flowers by starting with a pink layer and twirling my brush over it with some red. I was shocked how well that worked! #watercolor #landscape #art #painting
This is a horizontal watercolor landscape painting. At the top of the painting a bright blue sky is cut through by wispy clouds. Mountains filled with subtle grays, blues, and purples reach just to the base of the clouds. A line of pine trees sit below the base of the mountains. The trees are far in the distance, so they’ve been painted with blues and greens that weave in and out of each other. A bright yellow and green field rests below the trees and reaches all the way to the bottom of the painting. Pink flowers are speckled throughout the field. The distant flowers are simple pink specks while those closest to the viewer have darker petal details that form circles around the flowers center.

For today’s #ArtAdventCalendar entry we have Timothy. Timothy’s a bird, and he’s feelin’ like he ate too many berries #watercolor #traditionalart #art #painting #bird
This is a horizontal watercolor painting of a bird. The bird is perched on a branch covered with snow. To the left of the bird, branches weave in and out on top of each other. Some branches are sharply defined, others are further in the background, blurry, and a bluish hue. Snow covers the branches, and tons of red berries hang from them as well. To the right of the bird, a light blue is used to show a snowy sky. The bird himself is quite chubby. He has a round, light brown body with dark brown wings folded behind him. His face is sharp and angular with a blue chin and a red mohawk

I’m late, but I didn’t forget! Hello, #ArtAdventCalendar! Today’s is my only successful flower painting, a humble tulip #watercolor #traditionalart #art #painting
This is a botanical watercolor painting of a tulip. Its petals are filled with pinks and oranges with a touch of purple where the bulb meets the stem.

Happy Saturday, #ArtAdventCalendar! Today we have a watercolor tree I’m particularly proud of. #watercolor #art #painting #landscape
A watercolor landscape painting. A detailed tree is set in a textured field with a blue, cloudy sky. The tree’s leaves catch the light on the right side causing bright yellows and oranges. The left side of the tree is much cooler with plenty of dark greens from shadows. Branches weave in and out of the tree’s leaves. The trunk of the tree is brown with bright orange where it catches the sun on the right.

One man successfully posts to #ArtAdventCalendar 6 (six!) days in a row! Incredible commitment on display here. For today’s entry we have a watercolor mountain landscape that’s one of my favorites. It’s done poorly on social media so far, but I still love it. #art #painting #watercolor #landscape
This is a horizontal watercolor landscape painting. Starting from the top of the page, the sky is a soft, cloudy blue-grey. More peaceful than gloomy. Three distant birds are soaring in from left to right. Each one slightly higher than the other. Their bodies are soft grey silhouettes captured in motion with abstract textures formed from where water drops pushed the pigment away. A orangish-brown mountain sits below the birds. Its peaks and crevasses are filled with rocky textures formed from blueish blacks and snowy white. The bottom of the mountain fades to a light bluish black with a slight green tint. Three tree silhouettes painted using a bluish black sit in front of the mountain. Two are on the far left and reach halfway up the page. The third is on the far right and reaches almost all the way up to the top of the page. The effect mimics the movement of the birds.

Hello again #ArtAdventCalendar! Today’s entry is a view of a lake on a cloudy day. I hope you like it! #art #painting #watercolor #landscape
This is a horizontal watercolor landscape painting. The sky is a slightly blue-gray color with a soft texture meant to evoke loosely defined clouds. Streaks of lavender appear predominantly towards to top of the clouds. They could be simple shadows or the last hints of rain clouds. The horizon is covered in a cloudy haze that just slightly suggests there’s more hidden beyond. A teal lake is visible below the horizon, and a rocky shore with pine trees starts from the right of the painting and reaches just below the horizon. The pine trees are a rich green with trunks and branches peaking out of the foliage. They reach all the way to the top of the sky. The rocky shore is full of bold, vibrant patches and lines that harmonize with the landscapes colors but punch through its misty atmosphere. The water gently reflects the rocks - especially the ones found further in the lake.

Good morning #ArtAdventCalendar! Today we’re looking at my latest effort to portray mist in watercolor. I love how it turned out! #watercolor #art #painting #landscapeart
This is a horizontal landscape painted in watercolor. Two mountains are visible. One is far towards the top of the page and is so far in the distance that it is just barely visible. The second mountain is much closer to the viewer, and is therefore much clearer. Pine trees cover the mountain and they are progressively sharper and more detailed towards the bottom of the page. Mist has settled on that mountain forming rows that look like clouds woven between the trees

Hey #ArtAdventCalendar! Today we’ve got a cute watercolor baby elephant I painted for my incoming son’s nursery! I hope he sparks joy. #watercolor #art #painting #minnesota
A cute baby elephant loosely painted with watercolors. He’s happily running on bright, cheerful grass. His snoot is shooting out bright, fun colors. His expression looks very excited and a little worried. Like an elephant just figuring out how his snoot works

Please remember to properly support local artists. They prefer viewing positions that show you’re engaging with the art. Thank you! ☺️ Personally, I try handstands, and I’m practicing the “gallery cartwheel.”

Older piece from 2019. It was not a good year for personal reasons, and I can remember my distress just looking at the art I made back then. Yet, the art itself is pretty. #art #traditionalart #animalart
Traditionally painted art depicting a ghostly spirit bird flying through the air as a sun is setting in the background. While the bird is ghostly and translucent, the overall mood is peaceful and pretty, the colors of the background are a various shades of pink, purple and orange-yellow of the sunset.
The environment in the background is a big, light open area with few tree silhouettes in the foreground and darker hills in the distance.
