Our statement on today's killing in Minneapolis

A statement from Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib that reads:

Today’s killing in Minneapolis should anger every American.

This isn’t just about bad training, this chaos is what Trump wants: armed, masked and unaccountable paramilitary of thugs who roam our neighborhoods, tear families apart and kill people in broad daylight with no consequence.

This madness can happen in Colorado, and because spineless, weak Republicans in Congress just handed ICE a blank check, it very well might.

The Senate must do everything it can to stop this reckless bill, Kristi Noem needs to resign and states must begin preparation to keep residents safe from ICE and fight disinformation from the Trump administration.

How many more people have to die before this ends?

This is disgusting on so many levels. Families of those arrested by ICE near Vail say agents left behind branded “death cards” after arrests, a racist intimidation tactic, according to advocates and community leaders. Our communities deserve better, and we await the results of DHS’ investigation.
