I’m not surprised a lot of comic fans didn’t like “Lanterns.” But I deeply appreciated that it was a series about super heroes where any time a punch was thrown or a giant sky beam appeared, it was because a character made a bad choice. Despite its liberal use of “fuck,” it was a truly mature show.

Excellent first season filled with twists and turns, amazing acting, and character driven storytelling that focused more on why they were worthy than the powers themselves. Great cast top to bottom but the true super power was the fantastic chemistry between Pierre and Chandler.

Motoyoshi Oda gives us an overly rushed yet ultimately entertaining sequel. Lacking the emotional feel and weight of the original, along with a lesser looking Godzilla costume this film is aided by an interesting ill fated love story, solid miniature work and fun monster battles!

Bond day rewatch complete of Peter R Hunt’s excellent addition to this generational franchise. Lazenby is solid given the uphill battle he had taking on the role, Savalas is perfectly over the top but Diana Rigg totally steals the movie. Third act finale is an absolute all timer!

Rewatch complete of Fred Dekker’s Goonies meets Universal monsters flick. The kids dynamic is great and they feel like friends, monsters are scary and it’s shockingly violent at times. A super fun, humorous and often inappropriate 80’s romp that will make you rock until you drop!

FTW. Throughly entertaining. Sanada is mesmerizing to watch and you can see why he became such a legend. It’s tonally messy with a funky jazz soundtrack. Good fight choreography. Genre tropey as all hell but a fun watch. Chiba is in fine form as expected. 4/5

Rewatch complete of Sam Hargrave’s amazing sequel! Solid cast top to bottom. Hemsworth is great as always but Golshifteh Farahani absolutely steals the film. Filled with bombastic and varied set pieces, bloody hard hitting action and stunts all elevated by a propulsive score!

Rewatch complete of Norifumi Suzuki’s totally bonkers 80’s action film. I can’t tell you what the story is but man is it fun to watch. Crazy cast of characters, Sanada is instantly charming, Shihomi rules and Chiba is having a blast. Great fight scenes and hard hitting stunts!
