The Ciaran Frawley argument is getting really tiresome. He looked good when his team were down by nearly 30 points. See so many commentators who just ignore the fact that the scoreline at that point is a big factor in how someone performs. The pressure was off.

There is a lot of discourse in rugby commentary/punditry that nothing is a yellow or a red card anymore. A clear, reckless roll on Tierney-Martin, which he was lucky not to be seriously injured, and you have Quinlan and Duffy trying to say there's nothing to see here.

Also to the surprise of nobody, Sinn Fein, Labour and Soc Dems apoplectic that there is no Leader's Questions today. PBP and Independent Ireland also opposed. Chief Whip Mary Butler saying it's 'normal practice' to put forward a confidence motion' and that it supercedes other business.

And to the surprise of nobody, the Dáil's order of business is not agreed.

Andrew Lowth @andrewlowth.bsky.social · 14/04/2026
The Dáil is just about to get back underway. Straight into the approval of the order of business, which means there will be no Leader's Questions and, if business is approved (it will be, eventually), it's straight into the motion of confidence.

Genuinely can’t remember the last time I saw so many government backbenchers highlighting how upset their constituents were about an issue like I’ve seen with regard to the SNA Allocations this week. Said it before, during and after GE24, disabilities is a sleeper issue among the electorate.

Education Minister has 'paused' review into SNA allocations following significant backlash. In a statement Hildegarde Naughton says she will engage with Taoiseach and Tanaiste in the coming weeks - and that no further letters will be issued until they've concluded.

The government don't have annual targets anymore as part of it's Delivering Homes, Building Communities plan. Instead it has a target of 300,000 by 2030. However, it did have a revised target for 2025 in its predecessor - Housing For All - which was 41,000. www.rte.ie/news/busines...

It’s been a while, BlueSky! Recently finished up with Newstalk and Bauer Media Audio Ireland after almost 9 years with the group. I’ve learned so much from some of the best in the business and I will really miss the place. Currently taking a short break before a new challenge next week!

Very important discussion on the plight of children with disabilities on @tonightvmtv.bsky.social, especially around a lack of special education classes and assessments of need waiting lists. Been doing a lot of work on this in recent months, genuinely baffled how it isn't a bigger scandal.

Suggestions that Catherine Ardagh (FF) and John Cummins (FG) will be the first-time TD's who will be appointed junior ministers when Cabinet meets this afternoon. Promotions in store for Niamh Smyth and Michael Moynihan (both FF), while Emer Higgins and Neale Richmond (both FG) look to hold.

Also, the IRFU needs to consider a second AIL division in the women’s game. Only having one division means players will be poached from clubs who are trying to improve their status to the likes of the bigger women’s clubs. Let the game develop properly!

Andrew Lowth @andrewlowth.bsky.social · 04/01/2025
Open to correction, but by my read of things 31 out of the 50 AIL clubs have women’s teams. Some of the remaining 19 have functioning underage girls teams which could develop to women’s sides down the line, but it’s not good enough in 2025 that it hasn’t happened already.
