Fun(ish) fact: There are actually two “Europe Days”. Today, 5 May, marks the signing of the Treaty of London in 1949 setting up the Council of Europe, which now has 46 members – including the UK. 9 May marks the Schuman Declaration of 1950, which led to the modern-day European Union (27 members).
