Nothing too exciting in my Bournemouth trap last night but a Bordered Straw (Heliothis peltigera) and Palpita vitrealis sat together was worth a quick photo. #TeamMoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

Two of the Small Copper (Lycaena phlaeas) caterpillars found recently have fallen victim to a parasitic wasp, presumably Cotesia cuprea. Having fed on the caterpillar from within, the wasp larvae have burst from the skin and spun their own silk cocoons beneath its soon to be lifeless body.

A disappointing night for migrants in St Mellion, with no obvious new arrivals, however this spectacular Vestal (R. sacraria) aberration made it worth the effort in the torrential rain and thunderstorms. I've never seen anything quite like it. #teammoth

Well done Naomi Addleton on finding a Holly Blue larva feeding on Erica cinerea (Bell Heather) in the New Forest. This is the first record of the use of this foodplant in the UK. Just look how pink the larva is - perfectly matching the plant! And a Lasius ant to boot!
